As a film enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the whimsical world of Doctor Who, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Icons series! With David Tennant gracing the cover of a brand new story alongside Charles Darwin, it’s like a dream come true.

A fresh tale featuring the Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant, and Charles Darwin, is showcased on its cover.

It’s been revealed that a fresh lineup of Doctor Who novels is on its way, featuring two tales designed to honor the Doctor’s thrilling encounters with renowned historical figures.

The first book in the Icons series penned by Sophie McKenzie, named Doctor Who: Frida Kahlo and the Skull Children, is scheduled to be released on 24th October. This book introduces the Thirteenth Doctor, portrayed by Jodie Whittaker, as its main character.

Title number two, authored by LD Lapinski, is titled “Doctor Who: The Silurian Survival featuring Charles Darwin“. This story revolves around the Tenth Doctor (portrayed by David Tennant) meeting the renowned naturalist and will hit shelves on November 21st.

In the latest releases, Whittaker and Tennant are featured prominently on the book covers. An announcement from the official Doctor Who social media platforms states: “Meet the new Icon Series of Doctor Who books! Join an exhilarating time-travel adventure as these stories commemorate the Doctor’s meetings with historical icons from bygone eras!

Both books are now available for pre-order.

More recently, Tennant and Whittaker had a reunion on BBC Radio 2, where they looked back at their time together in Whittaker’s final episode, The Power of the Doctor. In this episode, Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor transformed into Tennant’s Fourteenth Doctor before his appearance in last year’s 60th anniversary specials.

“It was a moment!” Whittaker declared. “It was a very well kept secret.”

Tenant stated, “I’ve saved a recording of the phone conversation in which I called Jodie to inform her about her regeneration into me. I can’t listen to it right now, it’s too early in the day!

“What the… fill in the blank,” Whittaker teased.

Meanwhile, Doctor Who’s voice actor, Whittaker, is back in an audiobook format for a fresh wave of Big Finish tales, this time alongside Mandip Gill, the actress who portrayed companion Yasmin Khan on the show.

You can now pre-order the latest installment of Doctor Who’s Icon series. Catch up on previous episodes this Christmas, as they’ll all be available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
