It appears that the Doctor Who’s Eurovision-themed episode could be at risk of not airing on BBC One, due to the actual Eurovision Song Contest taking place.
In the 15th season of the series, due out soon, an episode penned by writer Juno Dawson is named “The Interstellar Song Contest.” This episode features Rylan Clark appearing as a host for the space adaptation of Eurovision.
The new episode of Doctor Who is scheduled to premiere on BBC iPlayer at 8am, coinciding with this year’s Eurovision grand final. However, showrunner Russell T Davies has hinted that there might be uncertainty about whether it will air on BBC One like the rest of the season’s episodes.
As a dedicated movie critic, I must say, during these captivating Q&A sessions, there’s no denying that the most electrifying week of all is the one encompassing the Eurovision Grand Final! The adrenaline rush starts in the afternoon with the live broadcast of the FA Cup Final on BBC One. But wait, as the clock strikes eight, it’s time to switch gears and tune into the live Eurovision spectacle, beaming across Europe!
In the heart of it all, if the football game is filled with numerous goals and exciting moments, leading to overtime and penalty shootouts, we find ourselves overwhelmed in the midst.

He went on to say: “It’s as if neither the football game nor Eurovision can advance – their positions remain fixed. Consequently, we are uncertain whether they will be broadcast on that specific day. However, it will be available on iPlayer; you just need to wait and watch on that particular day.
I’ve got a football game on TV tonight, which I’ll need to watch to discover if Doctor Who is airing as well.
They asked us, “Shall we relocate it?” To which I replied, “That’s the most thrilling suggestion I’ve received in a long time. Let’s check if we’re broadcasting. Let’s make this day lively.” So, Saturday is going to be an exciting affair.
In contrast to earlier seasons, Season 15 will have a slightly altered release schedule. Instead of becoming available at midnight, episodes will start streaming on iPlayer from 8 am UK time.
Additional episodes in this series feature one taking place on a harsh planet titled “The Well,” as well as one where the Doctor and the newcomer Belinda confront a mobile menace named Mr. Ring-a-Ding, portrayed by Alan Cumming.
Doctor Who returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 12th April 2025.
