Doctor Who’s Jodie Whittaker praises Chris Chibnall’s “beautiful” Thasmin writing

As a movie buff with a soft spot for Doctor Who, I’ve been thrilled to witness the beautiful chemistry between Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill’s characters. Their relationship development throughout the series has been a highlight for me and many fans. In “Legend of the Sea Devils,” the hints of Yaz’s romantic feelings for the Doctor were tastefully woven into the storyline, adding depth to their bond without being forced or out of place.

Jodie Whittaker has complimented Chris Chibnall, the previous producer of Doctor Who, for skillfully crafting the engaging interactions between her character, the Thirteenth Doctor, and Yasmin Khan, portrayed by Mandip Gill.

In the second-to-last episode of Legend of the Sea Devils, Yaz confessed her romantic attraction to the Doctor. Though their feelings didn’t develop into a romantic connection, many viewers enjoyed the heartfelt moments between these characters.

In my opinion, Chris did an excellent job portraying the evolution of Yaz and the Doctor’s relationship throughout the series. It wasn’t sudden or unexpected, but rather grew naturally from their interactions. The fact that fans have embraced this connection so warmly is truly remarkable.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many Doctor Who fans over the years, some of whom have been deeply moved by the relationship between certain characters. Despite the fact that new stories and adventures are being introduced with new cast members, I can still relate to those who find meaning and impact in the interactions between older characters. These fans’ experiences resonate with me, as I too have had moments where a particular TV show or character connection has left a lasting impression on my life. It’s amazing how deeply we can be affected by stories and the relationships within them.

Recently, Whittaker, who expressed caution over her departure from the program, is currently collaborating with her ex-costar Gill on new projects at Big Finish.

As a devoted moviegoer, I can’t help but feel elated when I ponder upon the fact that, as the Doctor and Yaz, I get to embark on new journeys and explore uncharted territories. This distinct advantage of our roles is what keeps me hooked and eager for more.

In many professions, once you’ve filmed a scene, that’s usually the end of it. However, as is clear in this case, there’s much more to explore beyond the screen.

Regarding further developing their relationship’s exploration through audiobooks, Whittaker and Gill are currently engrossed in their ongoing recording projects. However, they remain open-minded about future possibilities – “we’re not ruling it out.”
