Doctor Who’s Millie Gibson teases Ruby Sunday’s return alongside “magical” new co-star

As a lifelong Doctor Who enthusiast, I must say that the upcoming season 15 promises to be nothing short of extraordinary! The intriguing plot twists and new characters have me positively buzzing with anticipation.

After an exciting conclusion to Doctor Who’s season 14, everyone is eagerly anticipating the upcoming Christmas special and the new season to discover where Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor is bound for next.

As a film enthusiast, I’m well aware that our beloved character, Ruby Sunday, portrayed by Millie Gibson, isn’t just along for the ride. She’s embarking on her own extraordinary journey, and guess who she’ll be sharing a significant chunk of this adventure with? That’s right, a captivating new co-star, bringing a touch of magic to their shared scenes.

In conversation at San Diego Comic-Con, Gibson hinted about Ruby’s role in season 15: “It’s unusual to encounter the companion following The Doctor, which hasn’t happened before. I believe it’s a fascinating and intelligent approach to explore this scenario.”

Have you ever pondered about journeying around the world alongside the Doctor, only to find it strange when your routine life resumes afterwards? That sensation was quite peculiar, wasn’t it?

She continued: “But yeah, I’m joined by the beautiful Jonah Hauer-King on her journey. He’s a very, very interesting character, and he makes the show even more magical. So, I’m very excited to see what he’s like.”

Regarding who Jonathan Bailey (The Little Mermaid actor) is expected to portray, we don’t have definite information just yet. There are whispers that he might play Ruby’s boyfriend, but some recent set photos suggest his character may take a darker turn.

The photographs stirred fans into a whirlwind of excitement, hinting at the potential for a conundrum involving time and perhaps altering its flow to create a mirror image of London.

As previously mentioned, for now, it’s all speculation; however, we can confirm that there will be more Ruby-centered scenes in the upcoming episode.

In 2025, the upcoming season will be aired, and it’s expected that further information regarding where Hauer-King fits within the season’s events will be revealed over time.

Additionally, you should know that during these upcoming episodes, we’ll meet a fresh character named Varada Sethu joining forces with Ruby and the Doctor. In other words, she’s set to make her appearance in the series for the first time, having made her Doctor Who debut in episode 3 of season 14, titled Boom.

Previously, it had been confirmed that the character Sethu would not return to her Season 14 role as Mundy Flynn, but instead, she is set to appear as a new character named Belinda Chandra in the series.

I can’t wait to jump back into my TARDIS this Christmas! That’s right, Doctor Who is coming back to both BBC iPlayer and BBC One. If you haven’t caught up yet or want to revisit some old adventures, don’t forget that previous seasons are already available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
