A doctor is currently in police custody after attempting a horrific crime.
Gerhardt Konig was apprehended on charges of trying to kill his wife Arielle Konig, following accusations that he assaulted her with a rock, syringes, and attempted to push her off a cliff in Oahu, Hawaii, as stated in court papers acquired by NBC News.
On the basis of court records, it’s stated that the couple was making their way along Pali Puka Trail in Honolulu. At one point, Gerhardt, who is an anesthesiologist, requested his spouse to capture a selfie with him near the edge of the trail.
According to the court records, “Arielle stated she felt uneasy about posing for a photo so near the edge, so she politely refused and started to move away.
On the other hand, Arielle observed that Gerhardt grew upset when she refused to take the picture, and he started shouting at her, using language similar to what was stated in an affidavit from TopMob News: “Return there, I’m absolutely fed up with you!
46-year-old Gardhardt allegedly shoved Arielle into some bushes close to the path, then picked up a stone and hit her repeatedly on the head approximately ten times. Additionally, he pulled her hair from behind and forced her face against the ground as well. This is according to the statement released by authorities, as reported by NBC News.
Arielle, aged 36, additionally shared that her husband pulled out two needles from a bag and seemed to try to inject her with them. However, she informed the police as reported by NBC News, she managed to escape from him.
According to the records, Gerdhardt’s assault ceased when other hikers arrived at the location. One of these hikers, who was later identified by police as “Amanda,” mentioned that she heard Arielle calling for aid during her own hiking trip.
According to the police report, as reported by NBC News, Amanda explained that a man was holding a stone and when he noticed her, he paused and dismounted from a woman. Later identified as Arielle, she asserted to Amanda, ‘He is trying to kill me. He’s striking me with a rock on my head.’
6:10 p.m. saw the capture of Amanda’s hiking companion, Gerdhardt, by local authorities following a short chase. He is currently detained on a $5 million bond. Ambulance transported Arielle to Queens Medical Center in a state described as “serious but stable,” according to documents obtained by NBC News.

Dr. Gerdhardt König hails from Oahu, Hawaii, where he practices as an anesthesiologist. After earning his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh, he continued his training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for his residency.
Following stints as both a resident and staff anesthesiologist at UPMC, Gerdhardt transitioned into a professorship role at the university. In 2023, he moved to Hawaii and became a partner at the Anesthesia Medical Group, as per his LinkedIn profile.

Since the recent incident, Arielle submitted a petition for a restraining order on March 27, as reported by TopMob News. At 36 years old, she claimed that Gerdhardt had inappropriately touched and attacked her during the past few months.
Arielle pointed out that in December, Gerhardt alleged she was involved in an affair, sparking intense jealousy within him. Despite their participation in couples therapy, Gerhardt has since tried to oversee and scrutinize all of her interactions, Arielle shared, after initially accusing her of infidelity.

In her document, Arielle noted that “Gerhardt video-called his grown-up son, Emile (who is also my stepson). Gerhardt was seen with blood on him. Gerhardt stated, ‘I attempted to kill Ari but she managed to escape,’ and mentioned he wished to take his own life by leaping off a cliff.
In an email to TribLive, Jessica expressed her “astonishment and sorrow” upon hearing about the alleged murder attempt on Gerdhardt.
She added, “Our hearts are with Ari.”
topMob News has tried reaching out to a lawyer representing Gerdhardt, but have yet to find any legal representation for him. Additionally, we’ve attempted to get in touch with lawyers for Arielle, but haven’t received a response as of now.
