Does Alien: Romulus Have a Post-Credits Scene?

As a lifelong fan of the Alien franchise, I must say that Alien: Romulus has truly outdone itself! Having grown up watching these terrifying creatures wreak havoc on unsuspecting space travelers, it’s always a thrill to see new installments in this iconic series.

Over the weekend, the sci-fi film “Alien: Romulus” hit theaters, with Ridley Scott, director of the original “Alien,” and Fede Alvarez, known for “Evil Dead” (2013), taking on production and directing duties respectively. The movie is projected to surpass $100 million at the global box office this weekend, and it’s currently garnering positive reviews with a 81% critics score and an impressive 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. If you haven’t had a chance to catch it yet, you might be curious if it includes a post-credit scene – a common feature in the “Alien” series. Given that a new installment titled “Alien: Earth” is forthcoming, it wouldn’t be unusual for there to be an end tag. However, contrary to expectations, “Alien: Romulus” does not have a post-credit scene.

In the sci-fi series “Alien: Romulus,” Cailee Spaeny takes on the role of Priscilla, while David Jonsson stars as Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy. Archie Renaux, known for Shadow and Bone, appears alongside Isabela Merced from The Last of Us. Spike Fearn joins in from Aftersun, with Aileen Wu completing the ensemble cast. Fede Alvarez, famous for Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe, directs this production, having co-written the screenplay with Rodo Sayagues (Don’t Breathe 2). The characters were originally created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.

What Is Alien: Romulus About?

Does Alien: Romulus Have a Post-Credits Scene?

The upcoming movie, titled “Romulus,” is being marketed as more of a spin-off rather than a direct sequel in the “Alien” franchise. It follows a group of young space explorers who encounter the most fearsome creature in the cosmos, a life form that was first introduced in the “Alien” series. The director, Júlvarez, has shared that a deleted scene from James Cameron’s “Aliens,” which featured young colonists, served as inspiration for the storyline of “Romulus.”

“Initially, I wanted to take an unconventional approach by focusing on characters who aren’t experts or scientists, and certainly not adults,” he explained. “I found it intriguing to place ordinary people at the center of the narrative, ones who are more relatable to the audience because they’re less familiar with space exploration. Unlike professionals, these characters don’t have a wealth of knowledge about space travel, which makes their struggles more authentic and engaging.”

He continued, “All their parents probably worked on the same ship when they were kids, and that’s how they got to know each other … There’s a lot of history between them because they’re the only family they have. They truly act more like surrogate siblings; some of them even lived under the same roof. A lot of the big themes of the movie are about siblinghood and what does that mean? The Romulus of it all, and the bigger plot with Weyland-Yutani, is actually connected to that as well.”

Alien: Romulus is now playing in theaters.
