The upcoming game, “Donkey Kong Bananza,” is set to be the initial 3D platformer in the mainline “Donkey Kong” series since more than two decades ago. From the gameplay previews so far, it certainly appears quite promising. Unfortunately, the developers behind it remain undisclosed, as Nintendo has yet to reveal this information.
Since the unveiling of Donkey Kong Bananza last week, there’s been widespread speculation that it was created by the same team responsible for Super Mario Odyssey. However, when questioned about this in a recent IGN interview, Nintendo’s Vice President of Product and Player Experience, Bill Trinen, declined to provide details. Instead, he hinted that more information would be disclosed at a later time.
Trinen mentioned that we should keep an eye out for more updates,” he said. “First, let’s concentrate on the game itself and its mechanics, but rest assured, we’ll reveal details about the developer later.
It’s not a new situation that Nintendo has chosen to keep secret the development teams behind games such as Super Mario RPG, Mario & Luigi: Brothership, and Princess Peach: Showtime before their releases. However, according to Trinen, it appears that the team behind Donkey Kong’s development will be disclosed at some point prior to the game launch, which is a small piece of good news.
Donkey Kong Bananza launches on July 17 for Nintendo Switch 2.
