Nintendo has made available a complimentary trial version of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on their eShop. This allows Switch players to download and journey through the initial world, titled ‘Jungle’, playing through its opening three stages.
As I delved into this game, I noticed that Nintendo Life mentioned there’s only the Modern Mode to play, making it less challenging but easier to finish. However, any progress you make won’t carry over to the actual game. If you’re up for a tougher experience, there’s also the Original Mode, which resembles the original Wii U release in terms of difficulty because you have fewer hearts and a more limited inventory.
Last month saw the release of “Donkey Kong Country Returns HD”, marking its debut on Switch consoles. Enhanced graphics, compatible with JoyCon controllers, are among the improvements, as well as all content and features from the Nintendo 3DS version. The latter introduced the Modern Mode and eight fresh levels in a newly created world.
To learn more about the title, feel free to read our assessment. We awarded it a score of 7/10, commending the core gameplay while expressing some disappointment over its underwhelming graphics and cost.
