As a lifelong Nintendo enthusiast who grew up playing the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy on my trusty Super NES, I can’t hide my excitement for the upcoming release of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD. The nostalgia is strong with this one!
As a devoted Nintendo fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming reveal of their next big console. But before that, there’s an exciting development for the Nintendo Switch – next month will see the release of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD. This updated version of Retro Studios’ 2010 Wii platformer has just dropped a new overview trailer, giving us a sneak peek at what we can anticipate.
Back in the day, when I was a kid playing on my Super NES, I found myself deeply engrossed in the exciting world of Donkey Kong Country. This time around, it’s all about Donkey and Diddy Kong taking on the Tiki Tak Tribe to save their precious banana stash. If you remember the thrilling gameplay from the trilogy, you know what I’m talking about – each Kong had special skills up their sleeves, and we could make use of vehicles and helpful animal buddies to power through levels at lightning speed.
In “Donkey Kong Country Returns HD,” they’ve included the Modern Mode from the 3DS version. This enhancement boosts the total Hearts count, and it means that collisions during Mine Cart rides won’t instantly end your game. Besides these, there are other additional features in Modern Mode. If you prefer the original experience, Classic Mode is still accessible. The most distinctive feature exclusive to the Switch version is the support for JoyCon controllers, which include motion control functions. Moreover, local co-op play is possible using the same JoyCons.
Keep an eye out as we approach further information about “Donkey Kong Country Returns HD” within the next few weeks. The game will be available starting January 16th, 2025, at a price of $60.
