In 2024, Blue Bloods was among the shows that concluded its run, but the series is set to return under a new title, Boston Blue, which is scheduled to debut as part of the 2025 TV lineup later this year. As Donnie Wahlberg gets ready to reprise his role as Detective Danny Reagan in this spinoff, he’s also honoring the legacy of the original show. To mark the one-year anniversary of filming the series finale, Wahlberg and some of his fellow cast members from the original production paid a heartfelt tribute to the past.
It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since the Blue Bloods cast and crew filmed the final episode after 14 seasons. The series officially ended until December and, around that point, the cast and crew shared fond memories of the show. When it comes to this recent anniversary, Wahlberg took to his Instagram stories to repost a photo posted by executive producer Kevin Wade, which sows series finale call sheet. Wahlberg also added the caption “Last day of an era”:
This actually isn’t the first time that the series finale call sheet has been shared on social media. Last year, after filming wrapped, EP and writer Siobhan Byrne O’Connor included the bottom portion of the call sheet in a series of photos she posted. At the time, O’Connor’s post referenced the famed Reagan family dinners. Fans can see that Wade’s recent photo gives more of a look at what the final day of production consisted of. Also, in his post, Wade shared a message for the fans who tuned in for 14 years:
Exactly a year ago, the popular series Blue Bloods concluded an impressive thirteen-year journey. Here’s to the many people involved in its creation and the countless viewers who enjoyed it!
Marisa Ramirez, who played Maria Baez, marked the conclusion of BB filming with a touching Instagram post, reflecting on her time working on the series. Despite Danny moving to a different city with a new partner for “Boston Blue,” Ramirez remains fond of the original show. She praised the “top-notch cast and crew” and shared a photo of herself dressed as Baez. Here’s the post that has me yearning for Marisa:

Many fans flocked to Ramirez’s post comments to express their longing for the show Blue Bloods. It seems they aren’t alone, as Ramirez’s fellow cast member, Abigail Hawk (playing Abigail Baker), also shared her affection for Ramirez. Their on-screen chemistry as detectives makes me yearn for more scenes of Baez and Baker together.
I miss you, my talented wonderful friend.
Despite the upcoming spinoff, I can’t help but have mixed feelings about the cancellation of “Blue Bloods”, considering its impressive ratings performance. Moreover, Tom Selleck himself has expressed his wish to continue portraying Frank Reagan, although it seems less likely that we’ll see other Reagans in “Boston Blue” on a regular basis.

Paramount Plus offers access to all 14 seasons of Blue Bloods, and it comes in two plans: Essential (with ads) or ad-free. For those who want more content, consider the Premium plan which includes Showtime for just $12.99 a month. Better yet, opt for the annual plan and enjoy 12 months for the price of 10! Check out the deal here.
Despite the series coming to an end, enthusiasts of Blue Bloods can cherish their memories of the show. It’s heartening to know that Donnie Wahlberg and the team reflect fondly on filming the finale. Relive the adventures of the Reagan family by streaming all 14 episodes on Paramount+ with a subscription. Additionally, keep an eye out for Boston Blue, set to debut this fall on CBS.
