Donnie Wahlberg Teases If Blue Bloods’ Tom Selleck Will Be in ‘Boston Blue’

Everyone is eagerly waiting to find out if any of the original cast members from Blue Bloods will travel to Boston for the new spinoff series, Boston Blue, which is being led by Donnie Wahlberg.

55-year-old Wahlberg has subtly suggested that members of the Reagan family could be featured on the show, including Tom Selleck. Unlike “Blue Bloods,” which was based in New York City and focused on the lives of the NYPD’s elite, “Boston Blue” will have Wahlberg joining the Boston PD and embarking on a new chapter in his life.

According to Wahlberg, it’s quite possible for Selleck, who is 80 years old, to appear as a guest star on the CBS series. He mentioned this during his interview with Parade on June 23rd, stating that New York and Boston aren’t geographically far from each other.

Was there a question about whether Selleck and other Blue Bloods cast members could join via Zoom or FaceTime, along with occasional in-person meetings? The original police drama series included stars such as Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Vanessa Ray, Steve Schirripa, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, and Abigail Hawk.

He answered the question by explaining, “We discussed numerous options for people joining us.” Regarding the show Blue Bloods, it holds significance for our audience, myself, and Sonequa Martin-Green. She is a fan of the series. We have a partnership, and she’s a fan of Blue Bloods. She wishes to preserve its legacy, just as we do.

Previously, it was announced that Martin-Green, aged 40, had joined the cast of the series called “Boston Blue.” In this role, she will portray the character Lena Silver, who hails from an esteemed family in law enforcement.

The reason behind Danny Reagan, played by Wahlberg, accepting a position in Boston has yet to be revealed.

As a lifestyle expert discussing the intriguing character of Danny, I can’t reveal the precise explanation for his actions today, as it would undoubtedly spoil the surprise. However, allow me to share my insight: Despite Danny being deeply rooted in familial values, he’s also an individual who follows his unique path. It’s entirely plausible that someone can maintain their personal rhythm while remaining committed to family. In other words, Danny is a free spirit who cherishes his loved ones, and these qualities don’t have to contradict each other.

In the final episode of season 14 of “Blue Bloods,” Danny subtly suggested he was contemplating a life change. His character mentioned feeling lonely after work, indicating he had no one to return home to at day’s end. During the episode, he invited partner Maria Baez out for pizza, but their potential relationship wasn’t elaborated on further in that specific instance.

For “Blue Bloods” enthusiasts, encountering one of the Reagans in Boston might be an unprecedented experience; however, for Mark Wahlberg, it brings back nostalgic feelings as he grew up in that city alongside his well-known kin.

Wahlberg expressed that taking his cherished character on a new journey in a different city will be both a trip and an evolving experience. Much like the audience who might find it hard to picture Danny living in Boston, Wahlberg acknowledges he feels the same way. However, just as you are along for this ride, so is Danny. He’s going to need to navigate these changes because it involves a significant shift in his life.
