Don’t Miss This Weekend: Doctor Who Star Leads Epic Fantasy Adventure on TV!

On this coming Saturday, you can look forward to the much-anticipated reappearance of Doctor Who‘s Christopher Eccleston on your television screens, with his 2007 movie “The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising” being broadcast.

The movie, adapted from Susan Cooper’s The Dark Is Rising series, includes Alexander Ludwig (known for his work in Vikings) in an initial performance, as well as Ian McShane, Frances Conroy, and Gregory Smith.

The narrative unfolds around Will Stanton, a 14-year-old character, who discovers he is the last surviving member of a group of warriors called The Light. These warriors have spent their lives battling against an evil entity represented by The Rider, portrayed by Eccleston.

Will must then travel in time in order to gain the capabilities to confront The Rider.

The film will be on TV this Saturday (29th March), airing at 11am on Film4.

The movie marked one of Christopher Eccleston’s initial productions following his tenure as the Ninth Doctor on Doctor Who television series, where he appeared in thirteen episodes during the year 2005.

Since that time, Eccleston hasn’t reprised his role on television in the series, but he has stepped back into it for audio dramas. A fresh box set is upcoming, where he’ll join forces with Billie Piper as Rose once more.

Eccleston expressed his joy about working again with Piper on the Ninth Doctor’s further adventures: “I truly feel elated to be recording more stories alongside Billie once more. I believe my Doctor lacks existence without Rose.

This alien is more comfortable with solitude rather than companionship; we’ve seen him in isolation on Big Finish. However, there’s something special about Billie as Rose – resilience, courage, and profound empathy. That’s what makes me want to write for them together because they complement each other perfectly.

Simultaneously, Ludwig also appeared in movies like Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant and the film Bad Boys: Ride or Die, among others.
