Don’t Move: New Thriller Dominates Netflix’s Halloween Week Viewership

As a seasoned movie buff with decades of cinema-loving under my belt, I must say that the recent release of ‘Don’t Move’ on Netflix has truly captured the Halloween spirit this year. With its gripping plot and stellar performance by Kelsey Asbille, it’s no wonder this film has taken the streaming platform by storm.

Among the numerous horror and Halloween-themed movies on Netflix’s US streaming library, it was a fresh thriller titled “Don’t Move” that held subscribers spellbound during the holiday period. Starring Kelsey Asbille from “Yellowstone“, this film debuted on Netflix on October 25th and has since been a standout for the service, captivating viewers throughout the weeks following its release.

Last Tuesday afternoon, Netflix shared information about the most-watched movies and shows during Halloween week, and it turned out that “Don’t Move” was at the top. From October 28th to November 3rd, a total of 42.9 million viewing hours were recorded on Netflix for “Don’t Move.” This is even more impressive because these numbers don’t include the film’s opening weekend, which had already been accounted for in the previous week’s Top 10 data on Netflix.

Last week, nothing quite approached the performance of “Don’t Move” in terms of output, making it the clear winner for Halloween. A fresh teen horror/thriller titled “Time Cut” premiered over the weekend and managed to rack up substantial opening weekend numbers on Netflix. Throughout the week, “Time Cut ” was watched for a total of 35 million hours, which surpassed the combined total of any other English-language movie available on Netflix (excluding “Don’t Move“, naturally).

This week, newer films such as “Hijack ’93” and the Martha Stewart documentary titled “Martha,” were the next two popular movies on Netflix’s Top 10 list, each having been watched for over 10 million hours. Completing the top five was Anna Kendrick’s critically-acclaimed directorial debut, “Woman of the Hour,” which has remained in the top charts for three weeks running.
