Doom, Quake, and Turok remaster studio ask what fan-favorite game they should work on next

You may recall the DOOM remasters accessible through Game Pass or perhaps you’ve noticed the updated versions of Quake. Even if you don’t subscribe to Game Pass (a bit unfortunate!), do you remember Turok? Those also have impressive remastered versions. The studio responsible for all these and more is gauging fan interest in another classic title receiving a facelift.

In a recent post on their platform, Nightdrive Studios inquired, “We’re always excited to learn about games our community wants remastered. For instance, J. Scott Thurlow from GameRant recently proposed Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth as a potential project for us. What are your thoughts? Are there any other games you’d like us to revisit?

Are you excited about the possibility of remastering games that our community suggests, such as Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth which GameRant’s J. Scott Thurlow recently proposed? Do you concur with this choice, and if so, what other games would you be thrilled to see us revisit and bring back to life? 👀 January 13, 2025

A number of enthusiasts were clearly looking forward to the possibility of a revamped Call of Cthulhu. Our Chief Editor at Windows Central, Jez Corden, expresses eagerness about its potential realization. Meanwhile, others offered some intriguing alternatives, which I found particularly fascinating.

Enthusiasts were overheard cheering for titles reminiscent of The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, a first-person action game set in science fiction. This game is actually a follow-up to the 2004 release, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, and I’d be thrilled if they released a collection that included both. My youthful spirit yearns for these games, just as my nostalgia continues to cherish them.

Previous discussions highlighted popular choices such as The Suffering, Area 51, and Aliens vs. Predator 2, with many expressing a strong desire for a remake of the latter. Speaking of Aliens vs. Predator, have you considered Aliens Versus Predator: Extinction? It’s unfortunate that not everyone may recognize this game, making it somewhat disheartening—let’s move on!

An intriguing game selection I came across was “The Darkness”. Released in 2007, it was among the initial major successes by Starbreeze Studios, who later developed Payday 3. This dark horror title remains remarkably engaging even today. “The Darkness” was a shooter that combined guns and sinister abilities into one of the more distinctive games I’ve ever played on my Xbox 360 console, yes, I’m referring to its disc drive.

If you’re curious about this developer’s past performance, feel free to explore the earlier games that I mentioned. Although they aren’t remakes like the last four Resident Evil games, Doom I and II are exceptionally well-crafted and entertaining, albeit quite challenging on Nightmare difficulty. In fact, I challenge you to complete it!
