In grand proportion matching its intense battles, the game DOOM: The Dark Ages aims to be id Software’s largest campaign ever crafted, significantly surpassing its predecessors. Following a fresh trailer unveiling the Cosmic Realm, director Hugo Martin has disclosed that this epic journey consists of 22 levels in total – a marked increase compared to the 13 missions found in both DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal.
The length of the final gameplay session remains undetermined, but Martin earlier described it as “extremely lengthy” with some of the biggest areas ever created by the developer. However, he also emphasized that they aim to avoid a level becoming too prolonged and that the ideal duration is approximately an hour.
There’s plenty of extra content you can explore if you wish, making the overall gaming experience significantly bigger for those diligent enough to uncover all the secrets hidden within.
On May 15th, the game titled “DOOM: The Dark Ages” will be released for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC platforms, including Game Pass. By pre-ordering, you’ll get two days of early access. As a prequel to the 2016 version of “DOOM“, this game narrates the Slayer’s journey as they ascend through the Night Sentinels’ ranks and confront the forces of Hell.
