Dora Moono Nyambe, TikToker and Humanitarian, Dead at 32

As an ardent admirer of the indomitable spirit that was Dora Moono Nyambe, I find myself utterly heartbroken at the loss of this extraordinary woman who dedicated her life to the service of others. Born and raised in the vibrant city of Lusaka, Zambia, she traversed the paths less traveled, leaving an indelible mark on hundreds of lives in the rural community of Mapapa.

Dora’s journey is a testament to the power of empathy, resilience, and unwavering commitment. She first visited Mapapa in 2019, and the stark reality of poverty, lack of education, and resources that plagued this community moved her to action. In a world where many would turn away, she chose to stay, pouring her heart and soul into creating a beacon of hope for countless children who were previously forgotten by society.

Her story is one that transcends geographical boundaries, touching the hearts of individuals across the globe. The generosity of influencers like Mr. Beast, through his Beast Philanthropy, not only helped bring electricity to Dora’s Mapapa school but also aided in rebuilding a dorm damaged during a major storm.

The news of her untimely demise on Christmas Day leaves us all with a profound sense of loss. Yet, as Darren Margolias, the Executive Director of Beast Philanthropy, so eloquently put it, “Dora’s legacy will live in the hearts of so many who learned how it felt to be loved and valued because of you.”

In these trying times, let us remember that the work Dora started must continue. As she said, “What you share with the world is what it keeps of you.” Let her spirit live on through our actions, as we strive to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

And to lighten the mood, let me leave you with this: Dora may have left us too soon, but I’m certain she’s already teaching the angels how to dance, and they’re probably putting on quite a show up there! Rest in peace, Dora Moono Nyambe. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

The humanitarian community is mourning a devastating loss.

32-year-old Dora Moono Nyambe, the popular Zambian teacher known for utilizing social media to aid her organization Footprints of Hope in nourishing, housing, and educating numerous children from a remote village, passed away on Christmas Day.

With great sadness, we share the unexpected farewell of our cherished Dora, as expressed in a message on Instagram on December 27th. She will forever be honored for her roles as a loving mother, a courageous figure, a dedicated peace advocate, and an exceptional individual.

Her cause of death was not shared.

Born in Lusaka, Zambia’s capital city, Nyambe initially encountered the rural community of Mapapa in 2019. In an interview with Northeastern University’s newspaper, Global News, in 2023, she shared her experience. Upon witnessing the hardships such as poverty, lack of education, and resources that the community faced, she chose to relocate to Mapapa and establish a school. Her efforts on social media to raise awareness and funds from international donors led to the school’s growth into a campus catering to over 350 students.

Soon after starting her work, she caught the notice of philanthropist Mr. Beast, who, via Beast Philanthropy, contributed funds to install electricity at Nyambe’s Mapapa school and later aided in the reconstruction of a dormitory that had been destroyed by a severe storm.

After the unexpected passing of Darren Margolias, who served as the Director at Beast Philanthropy, he expressed a heartfelt message online.

@doramoononyambe opted for the challenging journey to safeguard and care for the most defenseless children,” he penned on Instagram, December 26, accompanying a video that conveyed the sad news of Nyambe’s demise. “My preferred quote goes: ‘The essence you impart to the world is what it preserves of you.’

He went on to share a message directly to his late friend.

In his words, “Dora, your memory will remain deeply cherished by countless individuals who experienced what it meant to feel loved and respected, all thanks to you.” He added, “They learned about courage, resilience, empathy, and devotion because they had you as an inspiring role model.

Darren went on to say, “Your time here was cut short, but the impact you made lives on in countless individuals whose lives you touched so profoundly.

Additionally, he highlighted that Dora’s work in Zambia through Footprints of Hope will persist, acknowledging the difficulties her team currently encounters. He encouraged fans to rally their support for this cause, expressing his sentiment as follows: “Dora created something beautiful, significant, and essential, and it needs to carry on beyond her.
