Double Down on the Cast of Las Vegas Then and Now

As I delve into the fascinating lives of these talented individuals who graced our screens in the beloved show “Las Vegas,” I can’t help but be awestruck by their extraordinary journeys. Each actor, from James Caan to Josh Duhamel, has navigated the highs and lows of Hollywood with grace, resilience, and a unique flair that makes them truly stand out.

James Caan, with his rich acting pedigree spanning over five decades, is a testament to the power of perseverance in the face of adversity. His portrayal of Robert Goren in “Las Vegas” showcased his exceptional ability to bring depth and nuance to complex characters.

Josh Duhamel, on the other hand, proved that he’s not just a pretty face with his compelling performance as Danny McCoy. His transition from modeling to acting has been nothing short of inspiring, and I can’t help but chuckle at the irony – he started off as the eye candy and ended up stealing the show!

Vanessa Marcil’s portrayal of Samantha “Sam” Marquez was a breath of fresh air. Her ability to embody a strong, intelligent woman who wasn’t afraid to take charge was both empowering and refreshing. I can only imagine the countless fans who fell in love with her character, just as I did!

Molly Sims’ journey from model to actress is truly remarkable. Her role as Delinda Diddles in “Las Vegas” showcased her comedic timing and knack for playing quirky characters. And let’s not forget the countless magazine covers she graced during her modeling career – I guess beauty really does run deep!

Jason O’Mara, who played Jack Collier, demonstrated his versatility as an actor with his impressive range of roles since “Las Vegas.” From starring in hit shows like “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” and “The Talk” to sharing the screen with legends like Billy Crystal, he’s truly a force to be reckoned with.

Lastly, I can’t help but admire the multi-talented Diane Farr. Her ability to seamlessly transition from acting to writing and producing is nothing short of impressive. Her work on “City on a Hill” alongside Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge was a testament to her talent and dedication to her craft.

In conclusion, the cast of “Las Vegas” has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on television history. Each actor’s unique journey serves as a reminder that with hard work, resilience, and a little bit of luck, anyone can achieve their dreams. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll see them all in a reunion special – I wouldn’t bet against it!

As for the joke, here it goes: Why did Delinda Diddles always carry a calculator with her? Because she couldn’t find a good number-man on the Strip! 😉

It’s been a lucky 21 years since NBC took a gamble on Las Vegas.

As a long-time fan of prime-time dramas, I have to say that the show featuring Josh Duhamel as Danny, a former Marine navigating his personal life while climbing the ranks at the Montecito Resort and Casino, really piqued my interest. The way it portrayed the glitz and glamour of Sin City, complete with high-stakes gambling, beautiful showgirls, tough guys, and shady backroom deals, was nothing short of captivating. I’ve seen my fair share of such shows, but this one felt particularly authentic in its depiction of the high-stakes world of luxury resorts and casinos. The occasional plot twist, such as an untimely death, added an element of suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. Overall, I found the show to be a riveting and immersive experience, one that I would highly recommend for fans of the genre.

The series ran for five seasons, with many of its main actors staying throughout, except for occasional newcomers to maintain the momentum. Alongside this, a constant stream of guest stars graced the stage, such as Alec Baldwin, Sylvester Stallone, and Paris Hilton, along with brief appearances from celebrities like Jon Bon Jovi, Snoop Dogg, and local Vegas favorites Criss Angel and the Blue Man Group.

It may seem like they were just having fun, but filming in the chaotic environment of Las Vegas actually has some challenges attached to it.

In 2023, Duhamel told Hollywood Outbreak that Vegas is an incredibly entertaining destination, but filming there posed challenges. He explained that while parts of the casino were closed off for shooting, they couldn’t halt all the regular foot traffic.

He pointed out that they were indeed shooting within an active casino, as evidenced by the persistent ringing sounds.

Not that it wasn’t also super-fun.

As a seasoned traveler who has ventured through various landscapes across the globe, I can confidently say that shooting in exotic locales such as Eastern Europe, out in the wilderness, is a truly immersive and captivating experience. However, being in Las Vegas offers a unique charm all its own. Instead of expansive fields and quaint villages, you’re surrounded by the vibrant energy of the city that never sleeps. While I won’t disclose specific sights, let me tell you this: there is always something intriguing to behold in Sin City. From the dazzling lights of the Strip to the lively street performers and everything in between, Vegas offers a feast for the senses that will leave you yearning for more.

I can feel an incredible amount of vitality in this urban landscape. It’s all about maintaining my focus and persistence to achieve my goals amidst such dynamic energy.

Initially, it was extremely abundant. Similar to its namesake, Las Vegas was excessively flamboyant, and as the plots became increasingly complex, it became quite entertaining. Currently, you can stream it all in one go on Peacock.

As a connoisseur of fine living, I must admit it pains me to share that, much like our beloved Montecito series, the story was abruptly cut short when the creators announced they wouldn’t be penning a sixth season. Alas, the intrigue remains unresolved, leaving us all eagerly awaiting a potential continuation.

While we don’t have any specific updates, we’re happy to share that “Danny and Delinda are reportedly thriving with their family!” Now let’s take a peek at where the diverse characters from our series have landed since they bid farewell.

Viva the cast of Las Vegas, then and now:

Previously serving as a Marine and combat veteran, Danny McCoy initially works under the guidance of Ed before ultimately taking charge at the Montecito.

Following the success of Las Vegas, Duhamel found further recognition by balancing his series commitments with roles in Win a Date With Tad Hamilton and Transformers. After wrapping up the series in 2008, he moved on to two Transformers sequels, romantic comedies such as When in Rome and New Year’s Eve, and reprising his role as Leo du Pres on All My Children for several 2011 episodes.

Besides his role in the detective series “Battle Creek”, Damon Wayans Jr. portrayed real-life investigator Greg Kading in “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.”, displayed affectionate fatherhood in the coming-of-age dramedy “Love, Simon”, and more recently, he starred in NBC’s true crime series “The Thing About Pam” and shared romantic moments with Jennifer Lopez in “Shotgun Wedding”.

Duhamel crossed paths with his former spouse, Fergie, on the set of Las Vegas since Black Eyed Peas were making a guest appearance at that time. They tied the knot in 2004 and welcomed their son Axl into the world before parting ways officially in 2019 following their divorce.

In September 2022, he tied the knot with Audra Mari, and then, in January 2024, they became parents to their son Shepherd Lawrence Duhamel.

Previously renowned for his portrayal of Sonny Corleone in The Godfather, the seasoned actor seamlessly slipped into the characters of Big Ed Deline, a former security chief turned operations head at Montecito, and a paternal figure to Danny, as well as the father of Delinda, who later emerged as Danny’s intended love interest.

The leading actor from “Brian’s Song,” “The Gambler,” “Misery,” “Honeymoon in Vegas” and “For the Boys” decided to leave Las Vegas after four seasons, expressing his desire for more time to focus on film projects. Subsequently, he collaborated with his son, Scott Caan, in the 2009 drama “Mercy,” which Scott also wrote. He later made guest appearances on “Hawaii 5-0” and portrayed a mob kingpin in the Starz series “Magic City.” Additionally, he lent his voice to “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” and participated in numerous other projects. His final screen role was in “Fast Charlie.

Caan was married four times and had five kids. He died at the age of 82 in July 2022.

Just now, I’d like to pause for a moment to honor the memory of Jimmy Caan. He was not only one of the kindest, most charming, and funniest individuals I’ve had the pleasure of knowing, but also a mentor to me. His absence will be deeply felt. Rest in peace, Jimmy Caan, my affection for you remains.

Delinda Deline, the brilliant daughter of Ed and Jillian, serves as the food and beverage director in Montecito. She found higher education uninteresting, instead preferring to navigate her own path. Delinda and Danny, a friend since childhood, share an undeniable compatibility. However, their relationship faced challenges in the first season, taking several more years for them to finally commit and become engaged.

Sims, who is also a model and TV host, graced the pages of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition five times, including twice during her time in Las Vegas. Nowadays, she’s a multi-faceted entrepreneur, sharing ideas about food, fitness, fashion, home decor, and parenting on her website.

Since the year 2011, she has been happily married to Scott Stuber, a renowned producer and Netflix executive, and together they have been blessed with three wonderful children.

Initially, the actress who was once known for her role in “Charlie’s Angels” portrayed Ed’s devoted wife, Jillian. However, it seems that Jillian’s patience expired following James Caan’s exit from the series, as later on, it is disclosed that she chose to part ways with Ed.

Ladd frequently appears on various shows such as CSI: Miami, NCIS, Chuck, Ray Donovan, The People v. O.J. Simpson (portraying Robert Shapiro’s wife, Linell), and Ballers. She has also starred in the Lifetime holiday movies The Christmas Contract and Grounded for Christmas. More recently, she can be seen in the 2022 film A Cowgirl’s Song.

As a devoted wife, I retained my maiden name David Ladd in the past, but since 1981, I’ve been joyfully married to Brian Russell. I am proudly a mother to Jordan Ladd and a loving stepmother to Lindsey, who is also part of our family.

Indeed, the top-notch casino manager worldwide partners with the exceptional “Ice Queen” Nessa Holt, who reigns supreme among pit bosses in Las Vegas.

Following her father, who was once a swindler turned CIA agent, feigning his own demise, Nessa grew up almost as one of Ed and Jillian’s children, becoming like a sibling to Delinda. However, after two seasons in Montecito (and with Mike), she chooses to depart and reunite with her father and long-lost sister in their fresh lives.

Thomason, hailing from Manchester, England, subsequently starred as Naomi on “Lost” and FBI agent Donna Berrigan on “White Collar.” She’s additionally featured in recurring roles on “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “The Good Doctor,” and “Better Things,” and made appearances on “SEAL Team” and “MacGyver.” Moreover, she portrayed a political adviser in the Sky One series “Cobra.

She’s been married to Craig Sykes since 2009 and they have a daughter, Tallulah.

Mike Cannon, a graduate engineer and head valet who also serves as Danny’s trusted security assistant, has Gladys Knight as his aunt. Nessa leaves him for a valid reason but later finds love with the new concierge at Montecito in season 5, Piper, played by Camille Guaty.

Ever since 2008, Lesure has consistently appeared in various television shows such as “Lipstick Jungle”, “The New Adventures of Old Christine”, “Mr. Sunshine” alongside Matthew Perry, the TBS comedy “Men at Work”, “Blue Bloods”, “Uncle Buck” with Mike Epps playing the eccentric uncle, “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce”, “Salvation”, “Divorce” on HBO, NBC’s “Good Girls”, “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty”, and most recently, “The Rookie: Feds”. In other words, he’s been a frequent face on your TV screen for over a decade.

Mary Connell, Montecito’s events director, had a violent father and Danny has always been her knight in shining armor—almost to the point of marriage. However, after an incident where she may have killed her abusive dad due to his powerful connections, she chose to disappear rather than let the law handle it. But she sent a photo to assure Danny that she was safe.

Following his departure from the series after four seasons, Cox predominantly took a break from acting to prioritize his family, spending most of his time doing voiceovers and television films.

In the set of Las Vegas, she encountered her future husband, Jay Mohr, during one of his guest appearances. They tied the knot in 2006, but unfortunately, they parted ways in 2018. Their son, Meredith, is a shared bond between them. As for Jay, he legally changed his surname to include Jon’s (his real first name) Cox, making him Jon Ferguson Cox Mohr.

Having delved into the captivating story of Sam Marquez, a Montecito resident who has earned the title of the world’s best casino host, I must say that her life is nothing short of extraordinary. Her journey takes an unexpected turn when her ex-husband, Casey Manning, a hotel owner, falls victim to poisoning and bequeaths the very same Montecito Hotel to Sam in his will.

In a twist of fate, she finds herself temporarily becoming the proprietor of this grand establishment. However, misfortune strikes again as she faces financial difficulties due to unpaid taxes. The weight of responsibility threatens to overwhelm her, but Sam’s indomitable spirit refuses to be deterred.

Throughout these hardships, she discovers that life has a peculiar sense of humor and often presents us with the most unlikely solutions. In this case, she decides to take a leap of faith and agree to marry Casey’s brother, Vic, because he reminds her of her late husband. This choice, though unconventional, speaks volumes about Sam’s resilience and ability to adapt in the face of adversity.

I find myself intrigued by Sam Marquez’s story – a tale that beautifully encapsulates the rollercoaster ride that life often becomes for us all. Her experiences remind me that, despite the challenges we may encounter, our choices can ultimately define who we are and how we navigate the complexities of life.

Marcil initially made her mark on the show “General Hospital” and is well-known for her work on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” during which she encountered Brian Austin Green, the father of her child. She has also been part of productions like “Lipstick Jungle” and several movies aired on Hallmark Channel and Lifetime, including the 2019 film titled “My Stepfather’s Secret.

From 1989 to 1993, she was wedded to Corey Feldman. Their son Kassius came into the world in 2002, and they separated the following year, although Green made an appearance on a 2004 episode of Las Vegas alongside Paris Hilton, where he portrayed his fiancé. Marcil tied the knot with CSI: NY star Carmine Giovinazzo in 2010 but initiated divorce proceedings in 2012.

Of course, once Caan departed from the series, the producers sought a worthy replacement. Step up, Magnum P.I., playing the role of A.J. Cooper, a successful businessman and real estate tycoon who rescues the Montecito financially and assumes ownership in season five.

As a lifestyle expert, I can share my perspective: Following my stint on Las Vegas, I found myself stepping into the shoes of troubled detective-turned-police chief Jesse Stone in nine TV movies adapted from Robert B. Parker’s novels. Later, I had the privilege of portraying New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan for the full 14 seasons of Blue Bloods on CBS.

Actor Selleck, who was previously divorced, has been happily married to his spouse Jillie since the year 1987. They are proud parents of their daughter Hannah.

Reminiscent of Anna Nicole Smith’s life story, Monica Mancuso, initially a 25-year-old waitress and stripper, found herself married to an elderly billionaire, which afforded her a luxurious lifestyle in later years. Tragically, Monica met her untimely end in season three, suffering a freak accident where she fell from the hotel roof and landed in a shoe store.

Known for her roles in “Twin Peaks”, “Threesome”, and “The Practice” (and for dating Jack Nicholson in the 1990s), she made an appearance on “Law & Order” in 2008 and has since been seen in a few minor films. However, she has largely kept her life private and was notably absent from the third season of “Twin Peaks” on Showtime in 2017. Her character, Donna, had earlier been played by Moira Kelly in the prequel film “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me”. (The original actress was replaced.)

She’s been married to her second husband, real estate investor Donald Ray Thomas II, since 2006.

In a past life, I played the recurring character of Casey Manning, Sam’s ex and former owner of the Montecito. Following Monica’s demise, I found myself inheriting this struggling hotel once more. Unfortunately, it was revealed that I had been secretly poisoned before my untimely death in a boating accident during season four. However, in a twist of fate, I had previously drafted a will, bequeathing the financially strapped Montecito to Sam before my passing.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to contribute significantly to both TV movies produced for broadcast and independent films. More recently, you might have seen me in the 2022 film “Miracle at Manchester”. Additionally, I’ve had the pleasure of reoccurring roles on shows such as “Lady Dynamite”, “Supergirl” and “Hit the Floor”.

He has a son, Christopher, with ex-girlfriend Samantha Torres.

On the TV series Crossing Jordan, which was another popular drama on NBC, O’Connell portrayed Detective Woody Hoyt. There were some shared episodes between this show and Las Vegas, making it possible for the characters played by O’Connell and Sam to have a more noticeable romantic involvement.

Notable roles for the seasoned actor, who first appeared on screen at 12 in ‘Stand by Me’, span appearances in ‘Scary Movie 5’, the 2014 ‘Veronica Mars’ film, ‘Obsessed’ opposite Idris Elba, and parts on ‘Drunk History’, ‘The League’, ‘Workaholics’, ‘Scream Queens’, ‘Billions’, ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’, and various other projects.

Starting from 2021, he became a host on CBS’ “The Talk.” He continued in this role until the series concluded following its 15th season in December 2024.

O’Connell married Rebecca Romijn in 2007 and they welcomed twin daughters in 2008.

At times when the Montecito required the expertise of a forensic pathologist (similar to a collaboration between NBC shows), it was usually Dr. Jordan Cavanaugh from the series Crossing Jordan who stepped in, accompanied by Detective Woody on many occasions.

Following the conclusion of “Crossing Jordan” in 2007, Jill Hennessy, who was previously recognized for her role as ADA Claire Kincaid on “Law & Order,” delved into music and released an album titled “Ghost in My Head.” She performed at Lilith Fair in 2010. Later, she portrayed a veterinarian in the brief-running HBO series “Luck,” had a stint on “Madam Secretary,” produced a second album called “I Do,” and made an appearance on “Bull” in 2018.

She appeared on the Showtime crime series “City on a Hill” alongside Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge, and in 2020 she featured in the Netflix film “Standing Up, Falling Down” with Billy Crystal and Ben Schwartz.

Since the year 2000, Hennessy has been in wedlock with Paolo Mastropietro. Together, they are parents to their two boys named Marco and Gianni.
