What you need to know
- During a preview event for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, game director Corinne Busche was asked about the possibility for DLC and expansions.
- Busche says that the team’s focus right now is just on delivering the base game as a complete experience.
- All three prior Dragon Age games received post-launch DLC.
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated to launch on Oct. 31, 2024 across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5.
As a die-hard fan of the Dragon Age series, I must admit that my heart skipped a beat when I heard Corinne Busche mentioning their focus on delivering a complete base game. Having invested countless hours in previous installments and eagerly anticipating the next adventure, the thought of no DLC or expansions was initially disheartening.
It’s uncertain at this moment if BioWare’s upcoming fantasy role-playing game will grow beyond its initial release.
In more casual terms, my coworker Rebecca Spear recently spent seven hours on Dragon Age: The Veilguard and she’s been buzzing about the whole experience. At a recent preview event, she inquired from game director Corinne Busche if there would be any downloadable content or expansions for Dragon Age: The Veilguard once it’s released.
Busche stated, ‘Currently, our main goal is to create the top-notch single-player RPG available. Therefore, we are putting all our efforts into developing this content as thoroughly as possible.’
Every prior Dragon Age game received some DLC
After release, there’s a chance the game might grow through additional content that requires payment (Downloadable Content or DLC). However, it won’t offer many hints about what to anticipate initially.
In the Dragon Age series, additional content like DLC (Downloadable Content) and expansions have been common features. The initial game, Dragon Age: Origins, was followed by various smaller updates and a major expansion titled Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening.
Although they lacked full-fledged expansions, both Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition were supplemented by numerous DLC (Downloadable Content) packages. These additional contents enriched the game narratives by offering fresh questlines, even unveiling some significant story twists.
In a thrilling turn of events, the highly anticipated game “Dragon Age: The Veilguard” is set to debut on Halloween, specifically October 31, 2024! You can enjoy this magical experience across various platforms such as Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5.
