Where to upgrade weapons and armor
For most of your upgrades, you’ll want to head to the Caretaker’s Workshop. This shop can’t be missed, as it’s found right at the center of the Lighthouse, your home base in the Fade where you rest between missions and chat with your party members. When you’re not redecorating, you can speak to the Caretaker and use the materials you’ve found to improve your gear.
What kinds of upgrades are available?
To enhance your weapons and armor in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, it’s crucial to familiarize yourself with the various attributes.
Each item of equipment comes with numerical advantages, such as boosting healing received or dealing a specific amount of damage. You can enhance these benefits by navigating to the Upgrade section in the Caretaker’s interface. However, each item has a limit to how much it can be upgraded, depending on the level of the Caretaker’s store, which is determined by the resources you’ve accumulated. These resources include rare items like Pure Ore, most of which are discovered through exploration, although they might also appear occasionally in specific shops.
To enhance the Caretaker’s store, you’ll have to collect items known as Mementos. These can be bought from multiple merchants scattered across diverse areas, but they can also often be found during your explorations.
As a researcher, I’d like to highlight that in addition to the upgrades, you’ll also gain access to unique abilities known as Enchantments at the Caretaker. Unlike other enhancements, these Enchantments are free to apply to your weapons or armor pieces. However, you can only apply each enchantment once. If you wish to transfer an enchantment to a new piece of equipment, you’ll need to remove it from its previous item.
How to improve gear rarity
In some games, enhancing certain equipment can be achieved by boosting its rarity level, transforming it from an ordinary piece into something exclusive and distinctive. With each rarity increase, additional benefits or advantages are unlocked, enabling you to adapt your strategies with potent new perks. For instance, a seemingly ordinary ring could initially only augment bleeding damage by 10%, but upon rarity upgrade, it might escalate to a 25% boost and even extend the duration an enemy bleeds.

Globally, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been released, marking BioWare’s return to the narrative initiated in 2015’s Dragon Age: Inquisition – Trespasser DLC.
