Dragon Age: The Veilguard – Release date and latest news

As a lifelong fan of BioWare and their enchanting universe, I must say that the upcoming release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has me more excited than a mage casting the biggest fireball spell ever! With ten long years since the last instalment, my anticipation for this new adventure is reaching an all-time high.

In the realm of video games, it’s become common for fans to endure a decade-long wait between instalments of popular franchises. However, this prolonged anticipation only intensifies the excitement as the release date approaches. Given that Dragon Age: The Veilguard is about to hit the shelves, the buzz surrounding its arrival is growing rapidly, much like the fiery breath of a mighty dragon.

Similar to the Mass Effect series from BioWare, the Dragon Age games are deeply rooted in mythology and offer numerous Non-Player Characters (NPCs) for players to engage and foster connections with.

2014’s hit game, Dragon Age: Inquisition, from the series, was incredibly popular. What might we see in the upcoming sequel?

Let’s take a look at everything we know about Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

When is the Dragon Age: The Veilguard release date?

It was announced back in 2020, but you’ll be glad to know that the wait is almost over.

The follow up to Dragon Age: Inquisition will be dropping on Thursday 31st October 2024.

Just in time for Halloween… does that mean there’ll be a spooky element?

Can I pre-order Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

You can indeed! Dragon Age: The Veilguard is available for pre-purchase on Steam.

The regular edition is £49.99, and the deluxe edition £69.99.

Which consoles and platforms can play Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will drop on Playstation 5, the Xbox Series consoles, and PC.

No Switch or previous gen release this time, we’re afraid!

Dragon Age: The Veilguard gameplay and story details

Dragon Age: The Veilguard takes place approximately a decade following the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition. This could potentially be an intentional wink to the gap between release dates in the game series.

Just as before, you can carry over your game’s progress by importing your world state from a saved game. Once you’ve customized your character, including details such as lineage, combat class, and background story, you’ll gain access to Thedas once more – albeit in a somewhat indirect manner.

Instead of roaming freely in an open world, players will navigate via the Eluvian network. Additionally, the gameplay has shifted towards real-time combat, rather than tactical strategy. Some fans might find this alteration challenging, but we’re confident that the Dragon Age essence will endure and eventually win us over.

Fans will be very glad to hear, however, that actor Claudia Black is returning as Morrigan.

Is there a Dragon Age: The Veilguard trailer?

There is indeed a trailer! Check out the epic release date trailer below:
