Dragon Ball Daima: Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 3 Holds a Major Difference From Goku’s

As an avid fan of Dragon Ball since its early days, I must say that witnessing Vegeta’s transformation into Super Saiyan 3 was a moment I never thought I’d see. The journey from SSJ2 to SSG and SSB seemed like it would be the end of his transformative road. But boy, was I wrong! It’s fascinating how Vegeta managed to achieve this form independently, leaving Goku in a state of surprise.

At long last, an event that many devoted “Dragon Ball” enthusiasts assumed would never occur unfolded within “Dragon Ball Daima“. For years, it was widely believed that Vegeta would never attain Super Saiyan 3 status, having skipped over SSJ2 and instead progressing to Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue in “Dragon Ball Super”. In his latest battle against Tamagami, the Saiyan Prince demonstrated he could adopt a form first used against Majin Buu. Interestingly, Vegeta’s version of the transformation bears a significant contrast to Goku’s, who has yet to utilize it in the most recent “Dragon Ball” anime.

It’s long been thought that Vegeta achieving Super Saiyan 3 was unattainable, given he hadn’t done it in Dragon Ball Super before. Many anime fans assumed Vegeta never even tried to master this transformation. However, as revealed in the latest Daima episode by Bulma, it turns out that Vegeta managed to attain this new form through rigorous self-training, a fact that left Goku surprised. Interestingly, Goku learned the transformation while training in the afterlife, under conditions that might not have been feasible if he were still alive. As we saw, Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 3 form appears slightly different from Goku’s, and ironically, it resembles the initial design concept for this form.

The Original Super Saiyan 3 Debuts

The initial sketch of Super Saiyan 3, as conceived by its creator, was featured in “Dragon Ball: Super History Book”, marking a special commemoration of Dragon Ball’s 30th anniversary. In this book, Toriyama disclosed his original vision for Super Saiyan 3, which differed from the usual style by not having the Saiyans’ hair curve downward towards their feet, instead keeping it longer. Interestingly, Vegeta’s new form sports hair that sticks out to the sides, bearing a resemblance to Toriyama’s original concept for the transformation.

Indeed, Akira Toriyama intended for Super Saiyan 3 to restore the tails to Saiyans, a feature not present in either Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball Super, as evidenced by Vegeta’s current transformations. Fans have speculated that Dragon Ball Super might introduce a canon version of Super Saiyan 4, but so far, this remains unconfirmed. However, Dragon Ball Super has shown us that anything is possible in this new series.

Daima’s Super Saiyan Future

As an observer, I witnessed Vegeta effortlessly triumph over Tamagami when he unleashed Super Saiyan 3. The actual combat was merely a fraction of the challenge to obtain the Demon Realm Dragon Ball. Intriguingly, the Saiyan Prince displayed his intellectual prowess by solving a perplexing mathematical puzzle that left Tamagami baffled, thus doubling the number of Dragon Balls in Goku’s team. However, securing the third one seems to pose some difficulties ahead for them.

In the twelfth installment of “Dragon Ball Daima,” Majin Duu and Majin Kuu managed to overcome a Tamagami, stealing one of Dr. Anisu’s Dragon Balls for themselves. As of now, we don’t know what Anisu intends to use her wish for, but if she obtains all three Dragon Balls, it could lead to dire consequences. It appears that the Z-Fighters will eventually clash with these malevolent Majins in the upcoming episodes of “Daima.
