As a seasoned gamer with decades of comic book and anime fandom under my belt, I must say that this news has me jumping for joy! The synergy between two iconic franchises like Dragon Ball and My Hero Academia is nothing short of electrifying.
In the fall, Dragon Ball will be commemorating the 40th anniversary of its manga, and the series has enlisted the creator of My Hero Academia for a new undertaking. This year, My Hero Academia has been dominating the summer season with not only its ongoing anime (Season 7), but also a new movie, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, premiering in Japanese cinemas. Additionally, series creator Kohei Horikoshi recently concluded the manga’s ten-year run in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, which has sparked excitement among fans as they reflect on its incredible journey.
In a unique collaboration, “My Hero Academia” will join forces with “Dragon Ball” to celebrate a significant anniversary. “Dragon Ball” is planning a special art exhibition in Japan this year, marking 40 years since the first publication of Akira Toriyama’s original manga series. To honor this milestone, Shueisha has invited various renowned creators from Shonen Jump over the years to reimagine all 42 volumes of the original series. Notable artists like Yoshihiro Togashi from “Hunter x Hunter” have already contributed, and next month, Kohei Horikoshi from “My Hero Academia” will unveil his interpretation.
In the upcoming Saikyo Jump Issue #11, 2024, manga artist Kohei Horikoshi, renowned for My Hero Academia, will join the DRAGON BALL Super Gallery Project as its next participant.
