Dragon Ball Reveals Closer Look at Super Saiyan 4 Goku Design

In its latest episode, “Dragon Ball Daima” introduced a revamped version of Super Saiyan 4 Goku, offering fans a more detailed glimpse at this fresh transformation’s design as part of the celebration. Contrary to what many might think, “Dragon Ball Daima” has been in development for quite some time, and its creators aimed to develop an entirely new series distinct from the storyline of the upcoming movie, “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.” However, they also wanted to incorporate elements that would resonate with long-time fans.

I had the chance to observe that Dragon Ball Daima was designed with striking similarities to Dragon Ball GT, as Akio Iyoku, the producer of Dragon Ball, disclosed in an interview. Interestingly enough, the Dragon Ball team hadn’t anticipated franchise creator Akira Toriyama’s participation in this new series at all. With his involvement and the parallels to Dragon Ball GT, the Super Saiyan 4 form has now been officially introduced into the official Dragon Ball canon. Below, you can see the designs for Super Saiyan 4 Goku Mini, developed by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, as spotted by @SupaChronicles on X and Anime Ajay.

Super Saiyan 4 Goku Mini Debuts in Dragon Ball Daima

In the final two episodes of Dragon Ball Daima, the epic battle between Goku and other fighters against Supreme Demon King Gomah reaches its climax. The Tertian Oculus has amplified his magic to such an extent that he effortlessly overpowers each fighter. Recognizing the situation, Neva intervenes, triggering a unique transformation within Goku. Despite Goku’s efforts as Super Saiyan 3, he fails to inflict significant damage on Gomah. In response, Neva employs his magic to induce a new variant of the Super Saiyan 4 transformation in Goku’s Mini form.

Despite Dragon Ball GT’s Super Saiyan 4 now being accepted into the main Dragon Ball canon by Akira Toriyama, it remains unclear if this new transformation will officially be called Super Saiyan 4. Although it shares similarities with the God ki that appears when Goku transforms into Super Saiyan God, it retains the feral characteristics of the original Super Saiyan 4, which made it so appealing during its initial release. Therefore, there’s a possibility that this form could reappear in some future, as-yet unknown form.

What’s Next for Dragon Ball Daima?

While Super Saiyan 4 Goku’s first appearance in the official storyline was significant, it proved insufficient to inflict substantial harm on the Supreme Demon King Gomah. He managed to return Goku to his original form by the end of Episode 18. The anime will conclude with Episode 20, airing on February 28th in Japan. Fans eager to watch the final episode can do so on Crunchyroll and Hulu; Netflix will carry it at a later time.

There’s a strong possibility that “Dragon Ball Daima” has more surprises in store before its conclusion, seeing as the battle against Gomah is far from over. Also, a fresh wish is about to be granted using the Dragon Balls of the Demon Realm, which could potentially bring significant changes.
