Fans of Dragon Ball, rejoice! Today, Bandai Namco has announced the initial roster of characters joining the DLC for Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero. This means that fresh battles, including one featuring a beloved character, will be arriving sooner than anticipated. Moreover, hints about upcoming additions have been dropped and they are rumored to originate from the ongoing Dragon Ball Daima. The fighting game has been a sensation among fans and casual players since its launch in October, so it’s no wonder that we’re only at the start of what seems to be an exciting content expansion.
Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, a game developed by Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft, immerses players into the thrilling battles of the late Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball series. While games like Dragon Ball FighterZ have already made a mark in the fighting genre for the franchise, Sparking! Zero offers additional engaging story elements such as branching narratives and alternate timelines featuring popular characters like Goku Black and Frieza. Upon its release on multiple platforms on October 11th, fans eagerly embraced the game, not only for the nostalgic nods but also for the excitement of watching their favorite anime/manga characters engage in Super-Saiyan fights. Now, even more characters and variants are joining the fight, with more to come in the future.
The “Hero of Justice” DLC expansion brings in a total of 11 new characters from the movie “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero”, along with one additional costume and three custom battle options. While the trailer does provide an introduction to these characters, it may reveal some aspects of the 2022 film’s plotline. Here are the characters that will be included:
- Gamma 1
- Gohan (SH) + two Variants
- Beast Gohan
- Piccolo (SH) + Variant
- Gamma 2
- Cell Max
- Orange Piccolo + Big Variant
The game titled “Hero of Justice” will become available for season pass holders on January 20th, which is rapidly approaching. As an added perk, those with a valid season pass can summon Shenron. This is quite exciting! For individuals who haven’t secured the season pass, the pack will be up for purchase starting from January 23rd. In the trailer’s finale, we got a sneak peek at two new characters that will join the fight in an upcoming DLC, focusing on Dragon Ball Daima. These characters are Vegeta (Mini) and Glorio. So far, these are the third characters from “Daima” to be included in the game’s roster, with Goku (Mini) being a character associated with the pre-order bonus.

Among the recent updates, announced through X (previously known as Twitter), introduces the Legendary Warrior Face-Off mode along with Hero of Justice. This exclusive mode offers players a chance to engage in intense battles against formidable adversaries. Although it’s a trial period, with improvements being made simultaneously, the opponent is no pushover: Broly. Known as the main antagonist in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, this reimagined character was an incredibly powerful Saiyan upon his initial appearance. Given the battles against Android 19 and Great Ape Vegeta, fans might be facing another tough contender.
The initial Downloadable Content (DLC) for the game Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, titled Hero of Justice, will be released on January 20th for season pass owners and made available to all players on January 23rd. At present, we do not have a release date for Daima’s DLC.
