As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming release of
The eagerly awaited game titled “Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero” is set to join the esteemed lineup of the Budokai Tenkaichi series, a collection of fighting video games renowned for their thrilling action and expansive character rosters. This upcoming anime-based game will make its debut on PCs and consoles on October 11th, leaving shonen enthusiasts with plenty of time to speculate about potential additions to the already impressive lineup. In a recent chat with the producer of “Sparking! Zero“, Jun Furutani, there was a query about characters that have only appeared in the manga of “Dragon Ball Super“. When asked whether characters like Moro and Granolah would be part of the game’s roster, Furutani provided an answer.
If you’ve been primarily into anime versions of Dragon Ball Super, you may not know about the manga developments. After the Tournament of Power and the battle with Broly, the Moro Arc presented a formidable sorcerer named Moro, who holds ominous powers. Not only is he strong in terms of power level, but Moro can also absorb energy from opponents nearby. Fortunately, Goku and Vegeta managed to defeat this villain by working together, with Son mastering new versions of Ultra Instinct in the process.
Is Moro Sparking! Zero Bound?
In a recent chat with IGN, Sparking! Zero producer Jun Furutani declined to confirm whether Moro or Granolah will join the game’s cast, stating that discussing such matters is currently challenging due to various circumstances. Despite this ambiguous response, it leaves room open for these Dragon Ball Super characters to potentially join the game at a later date.
In the popular game Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, additional content has been available for download, and it’s expected that even more will come in the future. Looking at previous Dragon Ball video games like Dragon Ball FighterZ, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, they were known for frequently releasing downloadable content (DLC). Given this pattern, it’s likely that the upcoming fighting game won’t stop at its current roster of over 180 characters.
Moro & Granolah’s Anime Future?
In none of the Dragon Ball anime adaptations so far have Granolah the bounty hunter and Moro the sorcerer made an appearance. It’s possible they might show up in Dragon Ball Daima, but given the anime’s timeline, it’s not very likely. The series will unfold post-Kid Buu’s demise yet before the beginning of Dragon Ball Super. Since Granolah and Moro are only characters from the manga, they may pop up as cameos, but it seems improbable that they would encounter Son Goku and the Z-Fighters prior to their encounters in the manga.
At the time this article was penned down, there has been no word on when Dragon Ball Super will resume airing after the finale of the Tournament of Power. Given the length of the Moro and Granolah The Survivor Arcs, they may result in a substantial number of episodes once completed. It’s possible that, upon the conclusion of Daima, Toei Animation has something exciting in store for Dragon Ball Super fans regarding its future.
