As a lifestyle expert with a background in healthcare and geriatrics, I can’t help but feel deeply saddened by the news of Phil Robertson‘s health struggles. Having worked extensively with patients dealing with memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease, I understand the physical, emotional, and mental toll it takes on both the patient and their family.
Phil Robertson’s health has taken a downward turn.
The former star of “Duck Dynasty” is reportedly in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, as shared by his son, Jase Robertson, who detailed the 78-year-old’s assorted health issues.
On a recent episode of the “Unashamed with the Robertson Family” podcast, I, as a lifestyle expert, shared some concerning news: A doctor’s diagnosis indicates that he’s battling a type of blood disorder, which is wreaking havoc on his overall health. This condition seems to be progressing rapidly and affecting him systemically.
The television personality, who starred alongside his family on a duck-hunting reality show between 2012 and 2017, mentioned that his father’s Alzheimer’s disease has had a significant impact on his health. Furthermore, he expressed concern, stating, “He’s not doing well at all. He’s really finding it tough.
In truth, Jase mentioned that Phil – father of Jase, Willie Robertson, Jep Robertson, and Alan Robertson with wife Kay Robertson, as well as Phyllis Thomas from a previous relationship – expresses a desire to resume his usual activities; however, his health status presents both physical and cognitive challenges.
Jase shared that Phil often says he’ll return to the podcast, but Jase pointed out, “Phil, you struggle to move without discomfort and your memory isn’t what it used to be.” To which Phil responded, “You’re right about that.” Essentially, Jase is saying that Phil can’t comfortably sit down for a chat, a fact that Phil seems to acknowledge.
But despite the terminal nature of Alzheimer’s disease—a brain disorder that leads to memory loss—Jase said the family is focusing on how to help their patriarch through his health battle.
We’re exploring various strategies to improve his comfort level and potentially assist with memory issues,” he continued. “A group of medical professionals are working together on this, and they concur that there’s no cure for his condition. So, our aim is to make him feel as comfortable as possible.
