Dune: Awakening, a pre-release offering on PC through Steam, has already been garnering attention as a potential breakout hit of 2025. With Advance Access sales leading the pack on Steam, it’s amassed nearly 100,000 concurrent players. However, there’s one feature in its settings that gamers exploring this new Funcom title should definitely enable – a hidden setting that isn’t activated by default for reasons yet unknown.
On the subreddit for Dune: Awakening, a player shared some useful information about a hidden feature in the game settings called “show friendly indicators.” Apparently, this option is switched off by default and remains unnoticed by many players. While it doesn’t matter much to those playing as a single-player game, for an MMO like Dune: Awakening, it can be challenging to determine who is friendly or not without this setting enabled.
From the comments on the post, it appears that many Dune: Awakening players were unaware of this particular feature. Even hardcore players who have already purchased Advanced Access and frequent the game’s Reddit page were not aware of it within the game settings. Therefore, it is likely that a significant number of casual gamers in the coming days and weeks will also be unaware of this useful feature. However, it’s worth mentioning that if Funcom releases a patch before the game launches to address player feedback, this feature may automatically be enabled by default.
