As a seasoned dance enthusiast with decades of experience under my sequined belt, I must say that this cast for Dancing with the Stars is truly a sight to behold! From NFL pros to reality TV stars and even an NBA legend, it’s clear that the producers have outdone themselves this time.
Cheryl Burke isn’t impressed with Derek Hough’s moves at the Dancing With the Stars judges table.
On her “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” podcast’s November 20th episode, the ex-dance professional shared a comprehensive review of the semifinal episode from season 33 of the popular dance competition show. In this broadcast, Burke assessed each couple’s performance prior to finding out what judges Hough, Bruno Tonioli, and Carrie Ann Inaba had scored them.
As the principal judge, I was taken aback by Derek’s scores, particularly tonight. It’s my duty to point out technical aspects when I notice them, yet it seems that on two occasions, I’ve found myself overlooking such issues.
One particular moment that caught her attention occurred following the Foxtrot dance by contestants Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson.
She added, “I was quite surprised by Derek’s statements praising the foxtrot as one of the greatest and suggesting his frame should be preserved in a museum. However, I strongly believe that it wasn’t flawless. In fact, I think any professional ballroom coach, judge, or adjudicator would concur – when it comes to frame, there’s no room for personal opinion; it’s either correct or incorrect.
She continued to call out Hough, adding, “Derek is just giving everyone 10s tonight.”
Instead, Burke argued against giving a perfect score of 10 to any of the finalists, which consist of Joey, Chandler Kinney, Ilona Maher, Stephen Nedoroscik, and Danny Amendola.
She stated that none of the performances received a perfect score from her, they were far from it. She emphasized this is simply her perspective, and not an expression of negativity or bitterness.
TopMob News has reached out to Hough for comment on Burke’s comments and has not heard back.
As a devoted follower, I’d like to emphasize that the uniqueness of the semifinals often lies in the intense competition and unreserved efforts displayed by participants. Tonight, however, I didn’t sense that same spirit, with the exception of Ilona, who truly embodied the essence of the contest.

Previously on “Dancing with the Stars,” the contestant who had been part of the “Traitors” cast, couldn’t manage to stay in the competition when paired with professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy. Unfortunately, they were eliminated from the lineup on October 22nd.
Despite The Bachelorette’s star Sasha Farber and his partner shining brightly on the dance floor, they were unfortunately eliminated from the competition on October 29th.
