Techland has revealed they are developing several unannounced projects within the Dying Light franchise, as they commemorate the 10th anniversary of their zombie game series. While Dying Light: The Beast is scheduled for release this summer, future installments mark a new phase for the series, encompassing additional video games, merchandise, webcomics, and even board games.
The press release states, “Our aim is to make the world of Dying Light accessible to an even larger audience.” This includes continued updates for our existing games, as well as new releases like Dying Light: The Beast and more, making it an exciting time for fans of Dying Light. Originally launched on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 27, 2015, today marks the 10th anniversary of the first Dying Light game.
The Polish programmer is marking the event by offering free upgrades for both the initial release and Dying Light 2. Enhancements for the first game include improved visuals, a remastered soundtrack, and additional features. On the other hand, the second installment will see Tower Raid mode becoming a permanent feature, along with modifications to the prologue section of the gameplay experience.
If you’re interested in starting this series, you’ll find both installments on sale at the PlayStation Store. Notably, Dying Light 2 is discounted to its lowest price yet. However, be aware that the game is also part of the PS Plus Extra subscription, so you might already have access to it without any extra cost.
In our review of Dying Light 2 on PS5, we gave it a score of 7 out of 10. We really enjoyed its combat, parkour mechanics, and smooth controls. However, while the game is a strong sequel to the 2015 original, enhancing its engaging gameplay with additional parkour options for even more fun, we were let down by the fact that the ambitious narrative and open world promises made by Techland prior to release have not been fully realized.
