Dying Light: The Beast Developer Outlines Essential Features That “Have To Be Perfect”

Initially, Techland began work on a second story DLC for Dying Light 2 Stay Human, but it grew into something more substantial with Dying Light: The Beast. The reappearance of the first game’s protagonist is significant, yet it also brings about high expectations, particularly for a project intended to be smaller in scope (however, the studio views it as Dying Light 3).

As reported by GamesRadar, Franchise Director Tymon Smektala openly acknowledged the challenge of maintaining balance in their aspirations, stating, “It’s extremely tough to restrain one’s ambitions.” Furthermore, he emphasized that while it’s impossible to excel in every aspect of the game, there are certain areas where absolute perfection is necessary.

According to Smektala, what truly “makes” the game Dying Light are the parkour and melee combat. In particular, they focused a great deal on refining the responses of the zombies when struck by different weapons, an aspect that might be underestimated but is crucial in creating the unique gaming experience offered by Dying Light.

Beyond these aspects, the portrayal of the primary character is one more element we simply cannot afford to get wrong, as our fans would undoubtedly react strongly if we did. Given the deep affection for Crane and his tale in “The Beast“, where he seeks retribution against the enigmatic Baron for decades of experimentation, it’s not hard to understand why.

Ultimately, Smektala asserts that you should primarily concentrate on the essential gameplay aspects, which are the key mechanics that set your game apart. The reception to Dying Light 2’s parkour at its release was varied, so we’ll have to wait and see how the newest title fares.
