In a twist for fans eagerly anticipating more from the popular zombie survival series, “Dying Light: The Beast” – initially conceived as downloadable content – has expanded into a standalone game within the franchise. With expectations sky-high following the much-awaited sequel to “Dying Light 2,” early previews laud the game as a fusion of the finest aspects from both previous “Dying Light” titles. However, Techland regrettably announced that players will have to wait a tad longer than initially anticipated to experience “Dying Light: The Beast.
The upcoming Dying Light: The Beast, initially unveiled in 2024, is shaping up to be an exceptional addition to the series, as suggested by trailers and early reviews. Excited fans of Kyle Crane and zombie-survival games are eagerly awaiting its release next month. However, it seems that the developers require a bit more time for fine-tuning, delaying the game’s original August 22nd release date. With preview events in full swing and pre-order incentives announced, the game was expected to launch as scheduled, but recent developments suggest otherwise.
It’s not unexpected that the release of Dying Light: The Beast has been postponed, given that its developer Techland has recently announced the cancellation of two other games. This announcement did not specify which titles were being cancelled, causing some apprehension about the future of the Dying Light series. However, Techland remains committed to launching Dying Light: The Beast for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Initially planned for August 22nd, it now appears that the game requires more development time even without other projects to contend with.
Dying Light: The Beast Pushes Back Release Date
On July 25th, Techland announced on the Steam page for the game that they were pushing back the release date for Dying Light: The Beast. The new launch date is now set for September 18th. This delay is approximately a month from the initial schedule. In their message on Steam, Techland explains that the delay is to allow for more polishing work before release. They emphasize the importance of first impressions in a game’s success and want to take an extra month to fine-tune details that will make the difference between a good game and a great one.
The studio plans to concentrate on perfecting gameplay equilibrium, simplifying user interface, and enhancing in-game physics and character animations. As planned, Techland will still release updates and exhibit a playable demo at Gamescom. However, gamers will have to be patient for the complete launch, as it’s taking a bit longer. Here’s hoping that the additional time spent will make Dying Light: The Beast worth the wait!
On the 18th of September, “Dying Light: The Beast” will be launched for purchase on Steam (PC), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are still being accepted, offering exclusive perks such as unique weapons and armor sets.
