4Gamer, a Japanese publication, recently interviewed Koei Tecmo and Omega Force, revealing that they had been developing a separate Dynasty Warriors game before the release of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, as reported by Siliconera in English.
Instead, the project, initially slated to evolve into Dynasty Warriors 10, was unfortunately scrapped. Some elements from it, such as the world map, were subsequently reused in Origins.
Tomohiko Sho, the producer, proposes that the team aimed for a new beginning – essentially, a return to fundamental principles – following the disheartening Dynasty Warriors 9 release in 2018. In essence, Origins can be seen as a revival or reboot for the series, serving as a launchpad for its future developments.
It seems that the initial version of Dynasty Warriors 10 was intended to continue from the gameplay style found in both Dynasty Warriors 7 and its sequel, Dynasty Warriors 8. This suggests that the developer may have opted against expanding upon the controversial open-world structure introduced in Dynasty Warriors 9.
frankly speaking, it’s great to see that Koei Tecmo and Omega Force decided to change direction. In our opinion, Dynasty Warriors: Origins stands out as one of the most thrilling and skillfully crafted entries in the Dynasty Warriors series so far. We can easily imagine how the franchise could develop, building upon the solid foundation laid by Origins.
It’s clear that “Origins” holds the top rating among all entries in the series, which undeniably carries some weight!
