As a long-time fan of the Dynasty Warriors series, I must say that my heart skipped a beat when I heard about Dynasty Warriors: Origins! After decades of playing these games and witnessing the evolution of our favorite Musou franchise, it’s exciting to see a new installment on the horizon.
On January 17th, 2025, the game “Dynasty Warriors: Origins” is set to release, and during the Tokyo Game Show, Koei Tecmo showcased an extensive segment of gameplay for their “Musou” title. Throughout a 23-minute video, we witness the unnamed protagonist participating in a War Council, choosing a Companion, and then engaging in the Battle of Guandu.
In certain maps, you may have the option to choose your starting point, but this isn’t a given across all games. Once combat begins, the typical gameplay of Dynasty Warriors kicks in, allowing you to swiftly defeat hundreds of enemy units at once. However, if needed, you can also issue commands to your allied forces to move them to different locations.
While it’s also possible to temporarily take control of companions, you can also initiate Extreme Musou Attacks. These team-up abilities are good for clearing out foes and great at dealing severe damage to enemy Officers.
