The prospect of delving into the origins of this epic series, with an original protagonist no less, is a tantalizing proposition.
2025 promises to be an exciting year for hack-and-slash enthusiasts, particularly those fond of Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors series. In the latest State of Play, the publisher confirmed that Dynasty Warriors: Origins will kick off the year early, debuting on January 17th, 2025. Additionally, they showcased some fresh gameplay – take a look at it below.
In the prelude to the primary storyline, the game titled Origins presents us with a new lead character for the first time, who finds themselves caught up in the turmoil of the Three Kingdoms era. Although they eventually gain the admiration of the masses as a hero, their amnesiac condition hints at an extraordinary secret hidden within.
In the traditional style of Dynasty Warriors, you’ll find the core gameplay unchanged, as you take on battles where you are one against a thousand enemies. You have the ability to direct troops, devise strategies, and much more. However, be wary, for formidable adversaries such as Lu Bu are ready to challenge your skills. Luckily, under certain circumstances, you can temporarily take control of your Ally Officer.
