Electronic Arts (EA) has announced a series of job cuts affecting its various development studios, with Respawn Entertainment, the team behind Star Wars Jedi, apparently bearing the brunt of these reductions. As per Bloomberg’s report, which expands upon EA’s statement, it’s estimated that between 300 to 400 employees have been let go.
Approximately 100 job cuts occurred at Respawn Entertainment, and as a result, the studio has halted production on two games still in their preliminary stages. According to Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, one of these shelved projects was a new Titanfall game, conceptualized as an action-packed extraction shooter.
According to a representative from the company, we’ve made some adjustments within our organization as we concentrate on our long-term goals. These changes are designed to better coordinate our teams and distribute resources in order to stimulate future expansion.
Respawn Entertainment announced that they have terminated two projects in their early stages of development. They acknowledged that making such decisions isn’t simple, expressing gratitude towards each team member affected for their creative input and significant contributions to the growth of Respawn. The company assured that it will provide substantial assistance to those impacted, including exploring potential new opportunities within Electronic Arts (EA).
