It’s not common that useful insights are derived from official video game artwork, so it’s noticeable when Electronic Arts (EA) and DICE generate headlines for using the same promotional art for an unannounced next Battlefield game, which appears strikingly similar to real-world events in Gaza dating back to 2021. The art department seems to be on break, as fans have pointed out noticeable similarities between some image elements and the actual conflict.
In their analysis, Insider Gaming pointed out a fascinating observation: A freelance artist working on X’s project found striking resemblances between their work and an image published by Reuters several years ago. While it’s not unusual for artists to draw inspiration from real-life imagery, especially in games like Battlefield that depict semi-realistic modern conflicts, the close similarity could potentially raise questions about AI usage. Insider has contacted Electronic Arts (EA) for a statement on this matter.
In September, enthusiastic supporters employed the same picture and satellite data to estimate possible settings for events anticipated in 2025. They concluded that it’s probable Battlefield will feature Gibraltar as a setting at some point.
