Despite EA Motive remaining silent about their Iron Man game development progress, a recently posted job opening on EA’s career site hints at a strong focus on single-player gameplay. This open position for a Level Designer specifically mentions the creation of “key single-player levels.
In addition to creating game levels, this job requires you to oversee their development from initial concept to final polish. This includes implementing research findings and playtest data, as well as collaborating with the team for feedback on the designed levels.
Based on the job listing, the ideal candidate for the level designer role should possess experience in creating levels for single-player Action Role Playing Games (ARPG). They should also demonstrate creativity in visualizing and crafting game environments. Additionally, proficiency in using Epic’s Unreal Engine is essential for this position.
Previously, EA Motive’s general manager Patrick Klaus shared an update about the Iron Man game, stating that the studio team working on it had reached a significant internal milestone. In his announcement, Klaus highlighted that under the leadership of Olivier Proulx and Ian Frazier, the project has established a strong base for the future development process.
The key developmental landmark for Iron Man’s production is expected to be related to its pre-production phase. In October 2023, it was disclosed that EA Motive was still in the initial stages of creating the game, having moved on to this project following completion of the Dead Space remake earlier in the year.
After the release of Dead Space, our attention has been diverted towards the Iron Man project, allowing us to collaborate on another exceptional property. We’re still in the early stages of pre-production for this project, carefully laying a strong foundation for development. The possibilities for storytelling, design, and gameplay with Iron Man are already numerous, and it’s thrilling to witness the initial ideas taking shape.
Although details about the “Iron Man” project are still scarce, it’s worth noting that author Ryan North joined the writing team for the game back in 2023. Nolan, who has a rich background in comic books (such as “Jughead”, “Adventure Time”, and “The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl”) and the 2022 video game “Lost in Random”, hinted that we’re not prepared for how exceptional this upcoming game will be.
Due to a lack of information about the game, EA clarified that the development of both the Iron Man and Black Panther projects were still ongoing, despite earlier concerns caused by layoffs that impacted approximately 670 employees across the company.
As an enthusiastic fan, I must admit that at this moment, there’s no additional information available about EA Motive’s Iron Man game. Details such as its targeted platforms or a possible release date are still under wraps. Given EA’s usual multiplatform approach to game releases, though, it seems reasonable to expect the game will be developed for both PC and consoles.
