Fervent enthusiasts of The Sims series have been eagerly waiting for a modernized version of The Sims 2 for a long time. As part of Electronic Arts’ 25th anniversary celebrations, they made this wish come true with a grand re-release of both The Sims and The Sims 2. Yet, the Legacy Collections didn’t have the seamless debut that both developers and fans anticipated. Almost straight away, players encountered problems launching and running the older games on their contemporary PCs, which was quite unexpected given the re-release aimed to make the games more accessible for fans.
Although a number of gamers have been able to play both “The Sims Legacy Collection” and the “The Sims 2 Legacy Collection,” many others have encountered problems. The difficulties appear to be device-specific, as they seem to vary based on the gaming system in use. Some players can’t even get “The Sims” to launch, while others can only run “The Sims 2” if it’s set to windowed mode. A significant number of gamers are experiencing frequent crashes, which hinders game progress due to lost save files.
Issues with the legacy collection of sims 2 so far

Although some major problems are causing trouble for gamers trying to play The Sims 2 Legacy Collection, even those who can get into the game are encountering difficulties. For example, players have reported issues with in-game elements like food consumption and motivation decay not working correctly. These types of glitches are common in Sims games, but it seems that the issues with this collection might exceed the endearing flaws of an older game. The fact that so many people are having trouble enjoying the game has left fans feeling upset because the cost of this collection doesn’t seem to match its value.
As a dedicated gamer, The Sims 2 holds a special place in my heart, a timeless classic that many of us Simmers cherish. Frankly, we’d rather revisit the original versions than see a remake. However, running these older games smoothly on modern graphics processors has been a challenge. But fear not, fellow Sims enthusiasts! EA, in response to our complaints, is working diligently on a solution to make our beloved game run flawlessly once more.
Sims 1 & 2 Legacy Collection Patches Are Coming
On the main Sims social media platforms, they’re cheerfully announcing the re-release without mentioning any issues. However, on Electronic Arts support forums, particularly in the Sims Game Info Hub, one of the Community Managers from the Sims Legacy Team has posted an “Important Update”.
The message acknowledges that fans are encountering multiple troubles with the Legacy Collection games at present. It clarifies that the team is working diligently to pinpoint these issues and aims to share further details about possible solutions shortly. While this update doesn’t provide specifics, it does imply that the developers aren’t content with the current state of affairs and are taking action. The extent of the fixes they intend to implement is still uncertain; we don’t know yet if they will mainly focus on resolving crashes or delve into more unusual in-game difficulties.
Apart from informing users that developers are addressing existing issues and possible solutions, the message further guides those who report bugs on how to do so effectively. For Simmers aiming to have their particular problems resolved, the post advises including screenshots, videos, DxDiag files, and (for TS1) VulkanInfo.exe reports in their bug reports.
At this point, Electronic Arts (EA) hasn’t set a date for when they will release a patch for their recently re-released games. Nevertheless, it’s reassuring to know that they are actively working towards addressing fan issues and ensuring both the Sims Legacy Collection and The Sims 2 Legacy Collection function as intended.
