EA Sports FC 26 Reportedly Making a Much-Needed Change to Ultimate Team

In terms of popularity, Ultimate Team continues to be the favorite game mode for EA Sports FC 26, much like it has been in previous versions. Essentially, it doesn’t see a lot of changes from one year to the next. Whenever a new game drops, you can still expect the same card-collecting, online head-to-head fun that everyone enjoys.

Despite its flaws, it’s been criticized every time it’s released, with many complaints going unaddressed. However, in the upcoming FIFA 26, a long-awaited change that was much needed is finally being introduced, which should continue in future versions as well.

EA Sports FC 26 to Add Penalty for Leaving FUT Matches

In previous versions of Ultimate Team, there was no consequence if you chose to exit a match with FC when it didn’t suit your preferences. If the matchup wasn’t favorable or you were outclassed, simply leaving and trying again was an option. This won’t be possible in FC 26, however, as indicated.

Leaving consecutive matches in FIFA 26 Ultimate Team may result in a temporary penalty, restricting you from queuing for another game within a specific timeframe, such as 15 minutes.

Based on reports from Football Gaming Zone (FGZ), a football news account, Electronic Arts (EA) has introduced a penalty system. If you abandon multiple games consecutively, there will be a cool-down period before you can attempt to match with another player again. The report suggests that the cooldown time could be 15 minutes, but EA may choose a different duration.

Currently, it’s not clear exactly how many games “multiple” encompasses. It might start at two, but it could potentially refer to five or more matches. Once the game releases on September 26, players will quickly discover the exact number.

The system is designed to ensure that players consistently join games and that these games run their full duration. It’s less enjoyable when games are interrupted due to an opponent quitting mid-game. And it’s even more frustrating when you can’t even start a game because the other player leaves beforehand. This feature aims to alleviate such situations, or at least impose a penalty for players who do so.

If you find yourself consistently losing to another player, resist the urge to give up and instead try playing with a different opponent. Although there’s a risk of receiving penalties, learning from this defeat can help improve the matchmaking system in skill-based games, ensuring a more balanced competition for you next time. Therefore, it’s advisable to persevere through the challenge.

Although the game, FC 26, has not been released yet, the recent changes and some speculated adjustments indicate that EA might indeed be taking player feedback into account. However, since FC 26 is part of a long-running series of annual releases (previously known as FIFA), it’s unclear just how much it will differ from its predecessors.

In Ultimate Team, players can purchase packs containing cards to construct their very unique team lineup, instead of following pre-set teams or playing as an individual character in Career Mode. Consequently, it’s widely appreciated due to its appeal, so enhancements that boost this mode are generally well-received and contribute positively to the overall game series.
