EA’s Long Awaited Skate Reboot Is Now Imminent on PS5

For quite a while now, Electronic Arts (EA) has restarted the Skate franchise with Full Circle, a series that didn’t continue into the PlayStation 4 generation at all.

Back then, the game Skate 3 experienced such a surge in popularity that the publisher had to produce additional copies. However, due to the PS3’s lack of backward compatibility, it wasn’t part of the mini-revival that followed.

The anticipation for the latest Skate game has been high, and it’s not unusual given current trends in game development. Remember, Full Circle Studio has been developing this game with a strong emphasis on the community, regularly releasing playable builds to build excitement. Eventually, they plan to release the game for free.

And Early Access is at least almost imminent it seems.

At present, the developer is accepting registrations for a last playtest, which is scheduled to take place starting from July 2nd. Registrants before June 27th are anticipated to secure entry. If everything proceeds smoothly, Early Access is expected to launch by the end of summer.

As the game nears its finish line, it appears that a forthcoming test post clarifies several exciting details: there will be approximately 140 challenges scattered throughout the urban playground known as San Vansterdam, boasting full character personalization, and accommodating up to 150 players per server.

As a devoted fan, let me remind you of an exciting aspect about this upcoming game: it’s designed to be an always-online experience. This means you’ll join a lobby and have the opportunity to collaborate with skaters from around the globe in real time. Admittedly, the live service approach might spark debates among some fans, but for a series like Skate, I believe this dynamic is perfectly suited.
