As a long-time fan of EastEnders, I’ve seen my fair share of love triangles and scandalous affairs. But Cindy Beale’s latest escapade takes the cake! Watching her schemes unfold on Thursday’s episode was both thrilling and cringeworthy.

Cindy Beale has kicked off her latest affair in earnest in EastEnders.
A significant week filled with drama for the Beale family on BBC One’s soap opera saw the unexpected arrival of Jane Beale, played by Laurie Brett. This led to a confrontation between Jane and Cindy, who is now in a relationship with their former spouse, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt).
At the same time that Jane made amends with her son Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) and was found to have reunited with Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra) in Albert Square, Ian and Cindy managed to patch things up between them as well.
On Thursdays, Cindy found herself troubled instead of at ease. The sly schemer was disturbed by the proximity of Peter Beale’s (Thomas Law) partner, Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), and her apparent flirtatious behavior towards Junior Knight (Micah Balfour).
Swiftly, spectators will identify this behavior as envy, recognizing that Cindy had a brief romantic encounter with Junior following her dismissal by his dad – as well as her former spouse – George Knight (Colin Salmon).
As a movie buff, I’d put it this way: “Cindy strongly advised me to keep my distance from her family and Lauren. Yet, it was evident that my feelings for Cindy hadn’t waned.”
To demonstrate their new beginning, Ian arranges a family meal at the Queen Vic for him and Cindy. However, this plan is disrupted when Peter reconciles with Junior.
An unexpected complication arises as George and his fiancée Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) share the news of their upcoming wedding at the pub – it’s scheduled for November 24, 2024.
To distract herself from the painful memory, Cindy chose to go home. In contrast, Ian arranged a Beale family gathering as an alternative celebration, inviting Peter, Lauren, and their young son Louie Beale (played by Jake McNally).
At dinner, Peter presented Lauren with a lovely leather-bound diary as a token of his pride and encouragement for her new employment. Delighted, Lauren consented to letting Peter and their son live with her.
Feeling a touch of envy towards the affection displayed between them, Cindy grew more irritated when Ian shared that they now synchronized their schedules to monitor one another. Angrily, Cindy left, insisting she was just going out for a drink with her longtime friend Shobu Kapoor (Gita Kapoor).
However, at the close of the episode, Cindy could be found standing in an alleyway, awaiting Junior’s arrival in a car.
I confided in Junior that I felt the urge to get away from it all, but he just hoped I would feel the same about our clandestine relationship. He took the wheel as my request, and we drove off at a quick pace with me grinning next to him.
This can only end in tears…
