As a seasoned viewer of British soaps who’s seen more twists than a bag of licorice allsorts, I must say, the introduction of Paul Clayton as Drew Peacock in EastEnders has me intrigued! The man’s got quite a pedigree, having graced the screens of Peep Show and Him & Her.
Actor Paul Clayton has been cast in the role of drag queen Drew Peacock in EastEnders.
This week on BBC One’s soap opera, a new character is introduced, joining the festivities during Elaine Peacock’s bachelorette party. Elaine, who just happens to be the flamboyant Queen Vic pub landlady (played by Harriet Thorpe), is tying the knot.
In the recent episode aired on Thursday, viewers noticed Johnny Carter (played by Charlie Suff) taking charge of the entertainment at the event. He also let Anna Knight (portrayed by Molly Rainford), Elaine’s soon-to-be stepdaughter, in on the secret that he had booked ‘Drew Peacock’ for this very occasion, hinting at their shared last name.
On the 18th of November, 2024, the long-awaited event will take place, whereupon Johnny intends to reveal Drew’s reservation as a stunning secret.
Elaine is so excited about the occasion that she’s willing to let Anna bring cunning Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) to the celebrations.
Meanwhile, even amidst the festivities reaching their peak, Elaine stands taken aback upon encountering Drew Peacock for the first time.
As the week unfolds, Johnny and his mother Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) begin to scrutinize Elaine’s response to Drew’s appearance. However, Elaine remains tight-lipped about her troubles, choosing not to disclose them. This all changes when Linda persistently seeks the truth.
Just why is Drew Peacock so significant to Elaine?
Actor Paul Clayton gained fame primarily for portraying Ian Chapman, Sophie’s father, over several seasons of the popular British sitcom Peep Show on Channel 4. Additionally, he made a significant impact through his role as Graham in the BBC comedy show Him & Her.
Previously, Clayton has ventured into the world of soap operas. In 2011, he portrayed Sam, Frank Foster’s father, on Coronation Street. Later, from 2013 to 2014, he starred as Superintendent Marlow in Hollyoaks.
