As a long-time soap opera enthusiast who has seen more than my fair share of Walford dramas, I must say that the return of Patsy Palmer as Bianca Jackson is a welcome sight! Having grown up with these characters and their complex stories, it’s always exciting to see them back in action.
In the upcoming months, parts of Walford might require earplugs due to the returning character, the legendary Patsy Palmer, who will reprise her role as Bianca Jackson on EastEnders!
In June, the BBC One daytime drama series depicted Bianca leaving Walford following a disagreement with her sister Sonia Fowler (played by Natalie Cassidy) concerning her romance with Reiss Colwell (portrayed by Jonny Freeman).
In the midst of Bianca’s hidden struggle with depression, she uncovered a shocking truth: Reiss was utilizing funds from his late wife Debbie Colwell’s account for their IVF treatments with Sonia. This revelation came as a surprise to Bianca.
Instead of staying loyal to Reiss, Bianca publicly exposed their suspicious activities at the bustling Queen Vic pub. Overwhelmed, she wept and hurriedly departed from Walford in her taco vehicle.
After that incident, financially strapped Reiss took the drastic step of killing his wife Debbie to support his new life with expectant Sonia. Following Debbie’s demise, he even proposed to her. However, Debbie’s mother Brenda (played by Nathalie McAuliffe) harbors doubts and suspects there may be more to the story.
In the near future, Reiss could potentially face a new challenge upon Bianca’s return to Walford, as she tends to be quite vocal. Not long after, her father, David Wicks (Michael French), is likely to follow suit.
In 2014 was the last time they met, with their paths parting after David’s cancelled wedding to Carol Jackson (played by Lindsey Coulson), his childhood sweetheart and Bianca’s mom, an event that led David to leave Walford for America.
Bianca and David’s bond has often been complex, yet their deep affection for one another endures steadfastly.
When it was revealed that he would play David Wicks again, actor Michael French expressed his gratitude for being asked and mentioned that, although his stay might be temporary, history has shown us that David is capable of generating much excitement and drama in a short period.
Since then, Sonia has chosen to forgive Bianca following the revelation from their mutual friend, Kat Mitchell (Jessie Wallace), about Bianca’s ongoing battle with depression.
It’s certain that Bianca will support Sonia. But might Bianca be crucial in bringing to light the truth about the murder committed by Reiss?
