EastEnders confirms which Christmas and New Year episodes will not air early on BBC iPlayer this year

As a seasoned EastEnders enthusiast with over three decades of watching under my belt, I must say I’ve seen it all – from the Slater family feuds to the Carter sisters’ romantic entanglements. However, this Christmas tradition of waiting for the episodes on the big day itself is testing even my patience!

On the festive days of Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day in 2024, it seems that we, the EastEnders fans, won’t be able to enjoy the early viewing on iPlayer as we usually do. Instead, we’ll have to exercise a bit more patience and wait for the episodes to air at their scheduled times. Good things may come to those who wait, but in this case, it’s our love for EastEnders that keeps us patiently waiting!

Just as was the case last year, it’s been verified that viewers won’t be able to catch the two fresh episodes on Christmas morning while having breakfast and unwrapping presents. Instead, they’ll need to hold off until the episodes air on BBC One.

On Christmas Day itself, the first of two special episodes will be broadcast at 7:30 PM. The second episode is set for 10:35 PM, so get ready for an exciting three-hour wait following what promises to be a thrilling cliffhanger.

On top of that, Boxing Day, which falls on Thursday, 26th December 2024, won’t be accessible early on BBC iPlayer. Instead, it will become available simultaneously with the traditional broadcast at 8:30 pm.

In addition to that, the long-awaited New Year’s Day broadcast (January 1, 2025) is set to be aired at 10 PM on BBC One, and it will also be streamed live on BBC iPlayer at the same time.

This means that fans will consume three major EastEnders episodes at the same time!

Once again, Christmas promises to be a suspenseful occasion in Walford. Unlike last year where secrets unfolded following the groundbreaking flash-forward earlier in the season, this coming holiday season will witness Cindy’s affair with Junior Knight, son of her ex-husband George (Colin Salmon), being brought to light.

Earlier, Collins shared insights on shooting the scenes where the truth unveils, stating, “What makes individuals enjoy portraying the antagonists during pantomime? It’s because they can be a tad more entertaining at times!

Playing the character Cindy demands a rollercoaster ride of feelings, so remember to mix in a dose of joy and amusement along the way. She’s consistently intriguing and complex, making her a captivating character to portray.

However, astonished as I was, I found myself fixed in my seat at the Queen Vic on Christmas Day, witnessing an extraordinary tale unfold. Being a devoted viewer of the series, I exclaimed internally, “Oh my goodness, I never thought this would happen! Hold on!

He added: “I had to do a line and I kept messing it up because I was so taken in with the storyline that was happening. You’re in for a lovely treat this Christmas Day.”
