EastEnders EXITS: Are They GONE For Good?! You Won’t Believe What Happens Next!

Attention: Today’s EastEnders broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer (May 22, 2025) may reveal plot twists. Proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers!

I have tried to make it more conversational and easy to understand for the average reader.

Today, EastEnders has arranged for several characters to leave Walford, as the Slater family continues to face their hardships.

On BBC One’s soap opera, the storyline persists as the family grapples with Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) demise and more recently, the separation of Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) and Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman). This breakup has led to Jean, accompanied by Mo Harris (Laila Morse), momentarily leaving Walford.

Stacey Slater, portrayed by Lacey Turner, has been battling with the pain of losing her beloved Martin and letting her family down due to her deteriorating mental state.

This past week, I found myself drawn into the gripping tale of the Slaters and their associates. Specifically, Jessie Wallace’s character, Kat Slater, along with Shane Richie as Alfie Moon, Heather Peace portraying Eve Panesar-Unwin, and Balvinder Sopal as Suki Panesar-Unwin, stepped up to support Lily and her kin when Stacey chose isolation.

Nevertheless, Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) found herself despairing over her family’s circumstances. Lily felt forsaken by her mother, Stacey, and worried that child welfare services might take their baby, Charli, away, given that Stacey has legal custody of the child.

On the 22nd of May in last Thursday’s episode, Stacey made her appearance from her room when she overheard Lily and cousin Freddie Slater, played by Bobby Brazier, finding it challenging to care for Stacey’s youngest offspring, Arthur (Rocco Brenner) and Hope Fowler (Isabelle Smith).

Overpowered by emotions, Stacey ventured out from her home after several weeks had passed, finding herself moved to tears upon spotting floral arrangements along the sidewalk, a tribute to Martin.

After learning about Jimmy’s severe visual impairment, Lauren Branning (played by Jacqueline Jossa) returned home carrying the baby, and Stacey assisted her by taking some of Lauren’s possessions.

During their chat, Stacey inquired of Lauren if she often reflects on her deceased sister, Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald), who tragically passed away from falling off the Queen Vic pub in 2017. Furthermore, Stacey disclosed that she has been frequently contemplating her late husband and Lauren’s late brother, Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements), since Martin’s demise.

Lauren shared Jimmy’s health predicament with Stacey, which helped Stacey grasp a new point of view and vow that they would both take on the role of caring mothers for their kids.

After departing from Lauren’s residence, Stacey encountered Martin’s remembrance blooms once more on her way. Subsequently, she stopped by the laundromat and paid a visit to Kat. Grateful for her assistance, Stacey disclosed that she intended to assume responsibility for the family meal at the Slater house by preparing dinner for Kat’s family. However, her lively demeanor gave Kat some cause for concern.

During the meal at the Slater residence, Stacey maintained a lively and animated demeanor, which made the family uneasy. However, this cheerful disposition of hers took an abrupt turn when she found out that Freddie had inadvertently taken her coat to the laundry with her phone inside it.

In a frenzy, Stacey struggled to reach her phone trapped within the washing machine at the laundromat. Her anxiety escalated when Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) attempted to console her, realizing her mobile was lost inside.

At the Slater residence, young Arthur shared with Alfie that Martin would be returning, which worried him. Later, Arthur disclosed that he had clandestinely obtained Martin’s cell phone.

Later on, Alfie showed up and disclosed that Stacey had been exchanging voice notes with Martin, full of joy as they were about to meet again.

Later on, Lily approached Stacey regarding the suspicious texts she had been receiving, which subsequently led to Martin’s phone being broken by Lily. This action provoked Stacey to grab hold of Lily and a scuffle ensued between them for possession of the phone. Remarkably, Stacey hit Lily during this altercation. Eventually, Lily took off running, with Alfie in hot pursuit.

In a conversation, Kat inquired of Stacey if she might be experiencing a bout of bipolar disorder, but Stacey refuted this and admitted that she had indeed learned about Martin’s demise. This revelation suggested that the messages she sent were meant to help her cope with her sorrow. In response, Kat implored Stacey to cease such behavior.

While examining the washing machine, Stacey discovered her phone was damaged, mourning over losing messages and pictures of Martin.

Upon returning home, Stacey discovered Lily preparing to leave with Charli, intending to stay with Lily’s biological father, Ryan Malloy (Neil McDermott). Stacey pleaded with Lily to reconsider, but Lily was resolute, prioritizing Charli’s needs and encouraging Stacey to let go of Martin.

Stacey confessed her feelings of remorse, viewing herself as harmful and destructive, believing she was responsible for Martin and Bradley’s demise. Lily assured Stacey that she wasn’t evil and wasn’t at fault before departing alongside Charli following an emotional farewell with Stacey.

Lily shared that she intended to go back to the Square when Stacey had fully recovered, but for now, they affectionately said goodbye, reflecting their deep bond.

After stepping back into the house, Stacey made her way up to her bedroom, enveloped in recollections of her family life with Martin. It wasn’t long before Arthur and Hope joined her, and Stacey warmly embraced them, disclosing that she had found it difficult to bid farewell to their father.

Stacey along with her children gathered up the pictures strewn across the floor, uncovering the fact that they themselves were planning a getaway as well. They would be staying with Elaine Lordan, who is known as Lynne Slater.

The trio then said goodbyes to Martin as the photos were put away, and then all hugged.

Has Lily Slater left EastEnders for good?

As of now, it hasn’t been announced, which suggests that Lillia Turner might still be playing the role of Lily Slater on the soap.

The character appears to have only been written out as part of the ongoing Slater storyline.

We expect Lily will return to the Slater fold at some point, as Lily herself indicated.

It’s likely that Ricky Branning (Frankie Day) and his family would prefer to keep baby Charli with them for as long as possible!

Has Lacey Turner now left EastEnders as Stacey Slater?

Lacey Turner announced that she will be departing the show EastEnders by the end of this year, marking her exit from playing the character Stacey Slater.

On the other hand, according to The Sun’s reports, this may turn out to be an exciting plotline. Moreover, there’s speculation that it might also involve Jake Wood reprising his role as Stacey’s former love interest, Max Branning.

It seems that Stacey is taking another break from The Square, this time accompanied by her children Arthur and Hope, followed by a larger departure later in the year.
