This article includes discussion of suicide that some readers may find distressing.
**Warning: Contains EastEnders spoilers**
Lately, I’ve found myself feeling quite anxious, especially as a devoted fan of Phil Mitchell, portrayed brilliantly by Steve McFadden on EastEnders. This iconic character is going through a tough time, wrestling with his mental health issues, and even considering ending his life. It’s a difficult reality to face.
In the hospital, it seemed like Phil received the assistance he required, yet during his stay, he chose to avoid his family, rejecting any visits.
In this week’s episode of EastEnders, Lexi (played by Isabella Brown) discovered the severity of her grandfather’s predicament when Nigel (portrayed by Paul Bradley), unintentionally revealed details about his past suicide attempt.
After accepting his tough situation, she wanted to meet him personally, yet her family had to inform her that Phil preferred not to receive visitors.
Billy (Perry Fenwick) pointed out that Phil might find it pleasant to meet Lexi, and she could serve as a companionable conversation partner for him.
With Lexi, Linda (known as Kellie Bright), and Nigel accompanying him, Billy led them all to the hospital. At the reception desk, he inquired if they could now visit Phil, with Lexi firmly stating that she wouldn’t leave until she had seen her grandfather.
But the receptionist had bad news for them: Phil had discharged himself in the morning.
The family expressed justifiable worry since Phil, who had been released a day ago, hadn’t reached out to anyone, raising concerns about his emotional well-being.
Where is Phil? And is he OK?
