Gillian Taylforth hints at potential challenges for Kathy Cotton’s blossoming romance on EastEnders.
As a dedicated movie-goer, I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming week on BBC One, where they’re rolling out special episodes marking their 40th anniversary. However, one tale that seems to have taken a backseat recently is the blossoming emotions between Kathy and Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman). I can’t wait to see where this storyline goes!
When questioned regarding the strengthening bond between Kathy and Harvey over the past few months, Taylforth pointed out that significant obstacles stand in the way of a harmonious relationship for the two – primarily the romantic interests they each hold elsewhere.
According to Taylforth, they seem compatible due to their shared laughter, but it’s complicated because he is Rocky’s closest friend and she is still wedded to Rocky. I’m unsure about what the future holds for them.
It seems Kathy might also feel quite remorseful towards Jean. Therefore, dealing with this situation could prove to be quite complex.
In December 2023, Kathy will be recalled by fans as the one who reported her husband Tom ‘Rocky’ Cotton (played by Brian Conley) to the police due to his insurance fraud involving arson at her cafe. However, it was all a tactical move aimed at shielding The Six from being exposed for the murder of Keanu Taylor (portrayed by Danny Walters).
Currently, Harvey and Jean Slater (played by Gillian Wright) are in a long-term relationship, but due to mutual deceptions between them more recently, their bond has become strained. At present, Jean is self-isolating at home following a traumatic incident where she was swindled out of her savings by phone scammers.
In January, when Kathy found herself accused of attacking Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), Harvey provided Kathy with a fabricated alibi during the time of the incident as a genuine act of concern.
