EastEnders’ Heather Peace promises New Year chaos at Suki and Eve’s wedding

EastEnders’ Heather Peace promises New Year chaos at Suki and Eve’s wedding

As a seasoned EastEnders fan with years of witnessing the trials and tribulations of Walford’s beloved characters, I eagerly await Suki and Eve’s wedding. However, I can’t help but feel a pang of unease as I remember Nish lurking in the shadows, ready to disrupt their happily-ever-after. But, let’s not be too gloomy, after all, this is EastEnders we’re talking about!

Heather Peace’s character, Eve Unwin, is over the moon while planning her wedding with her beloved, Suki Panesar (played by Balvinder Sopal), on EastEnders as the New Year approaches.

There’s just one problem – Suki’s evil ex-husband, Nish (Navin Chowdhry), is lurking, and he’s not going to allow Suki to marry Eve!

To avoid spoiling Eve’s special occasion, the actress tries to add some fun by subtly suggesting that the wedding will be flawless and everything will run smoothly.

In EastEnders, smooth sailing isn’t common, so it’s still uncertain if Suki and Eve would avoid complications, even without the presence of Nish as a factor.

Peace provides an explanation about Eve’s unique wedding outfit, featuring a distinctive detail that holds a significant meaning for the beloved duo.

Additionally, she shares her preferred character and offers a glimpse into what viewers can anticipate from the eagerly awaited installment.

This week, following numerous challenges, Eve and Suki are now ready to express their lifelong commitment. Wondering how Eve feels about marrying Suki?

For me, she’s the one I’ve been waiting for, marking the beginning of an eternal journey for Eve. An eternal journey on a path free from deceit, without any shadows cast by untruths. It’s a realization of my dreams, beyond doubt.

This is a Walford wedding, so is it safe to say that there is going to be drama?

No way, everything will go smoothly without a hitch, as that’s just the usual course for Walford weddings! [Chuckles]

The pair have a joint hen-do in Harry’s Barn. Were these fun scenes to film?

In casual conversation, when they gather, it’s like a chorus of laughter. The poor first assistant director and the director always seem to be in a pickle trying to hush us all down. It’s quite a challenge, I must say, [laughs]!

Apologies for any inconvenience, but noise seems to accompany us wherever we go, and we’re unable to achieve quietness. It’s more like a joke than an effort.

Tell us about Eve’s wedding outfit.

As a dedicated cinephile, I found myself intimately involved alongside Balvinder in the intricate dance of design and wardrobe department collaboration for our project. It was an engaging journey of collective creativity, where every detail mattered. For Eve’s character, we opted for a classic suit to reflect her persona; but when it came to Suki, we couldn’t resist adding a touch of magic with some dazzling embellishments.

In a magical storybook style, we aimed for the costumes, and the team truly outdid themselves in achieving this vision. While keeping it grounded in the world of Eve, I desired a touch of femininity, so I opted for a halter neck beneath the jacket, paired with trousers and flat shoes to maintain an earthy feel.

I was truly delighted by it. I had hoped to find a feather for my lapel that matched Suki’s dress, and luckily the costume department found a tiny peacock feather which was just spot-on perfect. If you research peacock feathers, they have numerous symbolic meanings that we believed strongly reflected both Suki and Eve.

How will you be spending your Christmas?

Currently, our abode is where we reside! Prior to having children, my spouse and I frequently traveled to Thailand during alternate Christmases. We even inquired if they’d prefer going there, but they were firm about wanting to stay at home instead. As a child myself, I too yearned for the comforts of home.

They prefer maintaining their traditional celebrations; we attend the carol service at the community park and the nativity play at the small church, creating a cozy pattern for us along with our three children. It’s likely that others are doing the same thing – simply enjoying time with loved ones and close friends during these special occasions.

What EastEnders character (past or present) would you invite to your Christmas dinner and why?

“I would probably have Stacey because she’s a laugh, and she’s my favourite.”

What is your favourite festive memory on set?

I’m particularly fond of nighttime photography sessions. The enchanting glow of the illuminated decorations never fails to captivate me. I believe we all share a sense of delight in such settings, where darkness is transformed by lights. There’s just something incredibly magical about spending Christmas Eve on the Square under the stars. This will be my fourth Christmas celebration!

In three words, tell us what the viewers can expect from New Year week, and Suki and Eve’s wedding?

“Love, chaos and romance.”
