EastEnders icon makes surprising return in early iPlayer release

As a long-time devotee of the soap opera scene, I must say that this week’s EastEnders has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The trial of Dean Wicks for Keanu Taylor’s murder, complicated by Dean’s admission of rape, kept me on the edge of my seat.

Warning: contains spoilers for EastEnders’ episode airing 5th September on BBC iPlayer now and BBC One tonight.

It’s been a classic week of EastEnders, centred around the trial of Dean Wicks (played by Matt Di Angelo) for Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder.

Overpowered by remorse because she was the one who committed the crime, Linda chose to reveal her secret to the authorities, hoping that this confession would put an end to the ongoing situation

Her admission didn’t proceed exactly as expected, since they weren’t prepared to accuse her right away given that there was no proof implicating her in the wrongdoing

Meanwhile, Sharon found herself behind bars due to being accused of contempt of court after a poor showing at the trial on Monday. Her attorney informed her that Linda was admitting something

When Linda was called back into the station, her lawyer managed to wangle a couple of moments with the landlady and it’s safe to say Sharon wasn’t impressed.

However, her troubles were about to escalate significantly as she entered the cell to begin serving her seven-day term

With a sack of necessities in hand, Sharon stepped into her dimly lit cell for the evening, gearing up to spend the upcoming week behind bars

With their run-in set to be legendary next week, what do they have to say to each other?

Initially, it was anticipated that Chrissie wouldn’t show up until the following week, according to previews. However, her unexpected early appearance took fans by surprise

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
