EastEnders icon Natalie Cassidy quits role of Sonia after 32 years

Sonia spent a period in prison before her trial, as she was expecting a child, due to a crime she was accused of. Fortunately, she has been released now and is committed to finding out why her sister, Bianca (Patsy Palmer), falsely admitted to the murder of Debbie.

As Sonia nears the revelation about her partner, it’s clear a dramatic finale is imminent. Unfortunately for fans, they’ll have to say goodbye to Cassidy, who’s leaving the beloved character behind.

According to a statement from Cassidy, shared by The Sun, he feels both sad and excited. After being part of The Square for another 11 years, he has chosen to pursue new opportunities. EastEnders holds a special place in his heart as it’s where he began his career, and he will always cherish the show.
